The jacuzzi was awesome! Jets were powerful and an unexpected joy. Very relaxing. If you are older and/or have leg weakness or other disabilities, not a good choice. Would strongly recommend paving lower part of driveway and re-paving upper part. Add rail to steps.

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed the chalet. We are always happy to recommend properties with few or no steps inside and outside. The office staff has that information and would love to talk with you about your choice. The driveway at Sugar Booger is a challenge, but most people figure it out after the first time or two. I'm guessing you mean the 4 steps onto the lower patio at the far end of the driveway? There is a concrete ramp at the other end with no steps right up to the door. Once inside, the bedroom is downstairs, but the main living area is upstairs, so you would have one flight of interior steps to navigate. We want you to have a perfect vacation, so please let us know about any limitations and we will look for a solution. Hope to see you back soon.

We had a great get-a-way here. I loved the city and mountains view, the wood burning fireplace kept us cozy and the sunrise from our king bed was amazing! Great little budget spot and great service from Mountain Laurel Chalets!

Well, it was clean. The bed was comfy. The hot tub was new! But everything else... you should be ashamed to charge $178 a night. Definitely won’t stay in another one of your properties. This was our first time, and this is the poorest quality property I’ve stayed in. And I travel a lot.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Sugar Booger. The chalets are priced according to amenities, which includes the view and the furnishings. This is our most economical chalet in the one bedroom catagory. We hope you did not encounter maintenance issues during your stay and would appreciate any feedback you can provide for us or the homeowner.

We had such a great getaway. The location is great. It was so close to Ober. We drove over and took the aerial tramway to town then shopped around. I've seen a lot of complaints about the driveway, but I've been to Gatlinburg several times and think this is to be expected. The views were great, and it was so nice to see Gatlinburg lights at night. I would definitely stay at Sugar Booger again!

A great getaway for two people. You can enjoy the sunrise in bed. 2 minor issues: the wifi is extremely slow and the driveway is very steep which was a pain for the regular car. A nice stay overall.

But, you have to remember you are in the mountains and the service up here may not be as fast you are accustomed to, plus there were likely a lot of users here during your stay. The driveway can be a bit tricky and will not work at all for a low riding car, but most vehicles are able to negotiate the turn up the driveway after doing it a time or two. Some people even back up the driveway because they have higher clearance at the back of their vehicle. If tricky driveways are an issue for you, please call the office next time you book and we will be glad to help you make a choice. We hope to see you again soon.

The cabin was clean in every aspect - kitchen, bathroom, bedding, carpet, jacuzzi. Decor is a bit dated but our primary reason for the visit was hiking so not much time was spent in the cabin. At first the driveway was a challenge but once used to it, it became an adventure.

We love the area and the view from our deck.The main complaint was the steep driveway. We should have been warned that you needed a powerful car to climb and park. We had to park at the bottom of the driveway. The pool table was unplayable with walls to close.

Hands down one of the coolest cabins we’ve stayed in. My husband and I rented this for a weekend getaway to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary. We saw 5 bears y’all! The cabin was so cozy and clean, and the view was just incredible. Highly recommend, we’ll definitely be back.

We always enjoy our stay at Sugar Booger. They have made some nice upgrades to the interior including both bathrooms. They also installed a new TV in the living room which was much nicer than the previous set up. The upper part of the driveway was chained off which made navigating an already steep and somewhat challenging driveway a little tricky. We really enjoyed the view from the hot tub. There was a leak that caused a portion of the carpet in the bedroom to be wet. The office provided a dehumidifier to help. Staff is always friendly and very accommodating. We were fortunate enough to see 3 bears the night before we left and we even had snow!

With all the rain we've had this year, the ground was saturated to the point that it entered the house through the foundation. We truly regret the inconvenience, but really appreciate your attitude in working with us. The area has been dried out and everything is back in order.
For future reference, if you can back up, the driveway is easier to manage, but it is still tricky.

It was great!! I'm looking forward to coming down again! The Chalet was better than I expected. My only gripe would be the spider webs. It was full of spider webs! Hanging from the pool table, in the corners of the steps, even on the extra blankets and pillows on the closet shelf. The gazebo was infested with spider webs. There is a small chair in the bedroom with a stuffed bear on it and it was also full of webs, actually with the spider living in the middle of it. Also the shower curtains need to be changed or cleaned. As soon as water from the shower hits it it smells very sour.

We absolutely loved the location! Beautiful views of the mountain, even got to see a mama bear and her cub on the drive down. We used this as our base and drove all over, Tennessee is a beautiful state! There were enough linens, the bed was comfortable, the couches were comfortable, the tv worked, the jet tub was great for relaxing. We didn’t use the hot tub, no particular reason, just never did. Yes, the driveway is tricky, but on the site that we found this on it told us it was so we were kind of prepared for it. It’s really no different than the majority of other drives around here.... you’re in a mountain, expect a steep incline.

The cabins was nice the only thing i didnt like was the driveway its hard to get up the hill and the drive way needs to be redone. As far as the cabin it was nice but no good phone service and 5h3 wifi did not work good at all

The bed was comfortable, outdoor hot tub is nice. Make sure to bring your own salt/pepper/cooking spray/butter/spatula. There was a metal outdoor grilling spatula that was overkill for those type of skillets. The parking is tricky, be ready if you are driving a truck for a good challenge. The view was okay, we saw some places at the beginning of this road on the opposite side that had a better view/clearing of the trees (they maybe bigger houses). If you have the curtains open and sleep closet side of the bed you will have a view in the mornings. Multiple people in the journal wrote about bear encounters, so do not keep food in your vehicle and lock your doors. We did see a bear and two cubs on a near by road. Nice to be in the mountains but a quick drive to downtown Gatlinburg.

Highly recommended during spring to fall to any traveler due to the driveway up the mountain. I would stay here again or try other cabins here. I knew exactly what it was going to be like with the pictures of the property being recent. Amazing view from the balcony! Great staff!

This was our first visit to the area and as a photographer we wanted a place with a mountain view. The view from the upper deck of the cabin was outstanding. As a result I took hundreds of photos. The cabin was so nice we deleted some of our planned side trips to spend more time at the cabin. The staff very helpful especially when we arrived in the rain and our car kept slipping when trying to drive up the very, very steep driveway and they sent someone out who pointed out the best way to make it up the drive. Now that we know how to navigate the driveway we plan to stay here again sometime in the near future.

Awesome cabin, perfect for our needs. The cabin is a bit dated, but it was clean. We hiked all day, the hot tub was nice way to end our days. A grill would be a nice touch, all surrounding cabins have grills, web site says no grills per city ordinance, I call BS on that one.

This is a very cute chalet. Neat floor plan, felt bigger than it is due to open design. Decent hot tub, pretty views. Deck furniture wasn’t super comfy. The driveway is a bear. Wouldn’t want a large or especially small vehicle traversing. Saw 3 bear while there! Neat to see sky trolley overhead periodically. Close to downtown, if you don’t mind a 9 point turn to enter/exit the property. Seriously, driveway is intense. Steep uphill entry with 160 degree switchback with pretty big slope. If you aren’t a decent driver, it would present a challenge. Overall a good value, and I’d likely rent again. But the driveway gave my wife some anxiety. It was very clean upon arrival. Well stocked kitchen.

When we arrived to sugar booger it was a blast from the past, the chalet is dated, has peeling wall paper, stains on the carpet and a slight musty smell down stairs. The burners on the stove don't actually fit and after trying to balance dinner our first night I called mt Laural the following morning, came back to a note from maintenance saying we will order new burners that actually fit... now for the positives! After you get past all of those things it does become very cozy, the driveway is tricky to handle. The ober tram tower is directly above which is super cool to see as well as the breathtaking views of the mountains and ifnyou look closely enough to your left you can see the city! We only saw one bear it was one night when we were coming back on the street below! All in all it's was a great stay, I love mt laural and hopefully sugar booger gets the much needed make over it deserves!

We had great stay in the Spring to view the Wildflowers in the Smokies. The unit was great for the two of us. The drive was a little hard to manage but the view was worth it. The view from the big windows inside and out overlooking Mt. Lecont and city was just beautiful. So glad to see that Mt. Laurel Chalets is doing well since the fires.

My wife and I chose to stay at Sugar Booger for our honeymoon, and it was an excellent choice! We have been to the smookies often and have always enjoyed the mountains, but getting to wake up in the morning and see the sun rise over them from bed was amazing. The driveway is a little intimidating, but the view is worth it. Definitely recommend staying here!

We had an excellent stay at Sugar Booger. As with most of the chalets on the mountains, it's an exciting ride up the mountain. It is well worth the effort. It's a nice little cabin with a beautiful view. Perfect for a romantic getaway. We were there to bring supplies for fire victims, and to support the local economy by Christmas shopping downtown. David at the office was very kind and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Had a great stay at this Chalet. It could have used some updating as in most of the outside lights were burnt out. But we brought our own flashlights and lanterns. The view of the sun rise coming up over the mountains was breathtaking from our upper deck. We saw two to three bears every night. Only negative thing I have to say is the driveway is very steep and it should be mentioned in the description. Will definitely stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets again not sure if it will be sugar booger.

We had a great time in the Suger Booger cabin! We saw 4 bears during our stay, two were cubs! The cabin had all the necessities that were needed. It had a nice view and was very peaceful. The drive up to the cabin was a little steep, but we were able to drive my Honda Civic to the cabin just fine. I went with my boyfriend and we had one of the best trips of our lives! We have decided to make this a yearly tradition.

Very simple and quaint little cabin. Exactly what we expected! The layout was different but it worked for us. Probably could have enjoyed the hot tub a bit more, if it were closer to the cabin. Never imagined a cabin and hot tub being so far from one another. :/ we were met with several bears within 30 mins of our arrival. Seen more the next morning, and then after shopping and hiking all day, we came back to them in our driveway and yard. They kept us in our truck for quite some time! Definitely an interesting experience and trip. They played and wrestled all around our truck. Gave us entertainment!! We will be back!!

What a way to spend a relaxing 4-days!!! My wife and I arrived on 10/26/2015 with the foliage at Full Peak, and we were pleasantly amazed at the view from our chalet, as well as the privacy. That alone would have made the stay a wonderful memory; however, we were treated to a visit from a "mama" bear and her 2 "cubs" after we woke one morning. Mama-bear decided to park her butt on the front porch just outside the bedroom's sliding glass doors while the 2 cubs explored and wrestled out on the grounds. None of the bears made any kind of attempt to enter the chalet, and we ended up with an experience of a lifetime all caught in the dozens of photos we made of the bears. The description on the website of the chalet's location, layout, amenities, etc., was right-on...nothing was misleading. The place was super- clean when we arrived, and the bed comfortable, the upstairs living area spacious and up-to-date, and both bathrooms in perfect working order. The 15- to 20-minute drive from the chalet to downtown Gatlinburg was enjoyable winding down Ski Mtn Rd through the trees colored in fall hues. And, in case you happen to need bread, milk, eggs, etc., there is a small grocery only about 10-minutes away. The folks at the registration building were cordial and offered assistance if we had any needs. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend you give Sugar Booger a try...Oh yeah, about the driveway - yes, it is steep (you're in the mountains, right?) but just proceed slowly and all is well.

The weekend I stayed at the Sugar Booger was just GREAT! The cabin was very vozy although the pictures did make it look quite larger than what it was. However, it was very clean and I had the most relaxing time using the Jacuzzi as well as the hot tub. The only complaint is that driveway! Once you figure it out its not so bad, lol. Would love to stay again!

We spent our 40th Wedding Anniversary in the Sugar Boogar Chalet and loved it. With the exception of the Mama Bear and 3 cubs just outside our chalet (within 3 feet from the truck and sliding glass doors in the bedroom!) that showed up on our second night there. Other than that, we loved it! Really liked watching the sunrise from the bedroom and went and had breakfast on the balcony.

Sugar Booger is a beautiful little cabin. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay there. All the comforts of home on your next vacation. I really liked the separated living and sleeping spaces. The bedroom which is huge is on the first floor along with the main bathroom and jacuzzi tub. The living space is all on the second floor. Two really comfy couches, a fully stocked kitchen, a pool table, and a smaller bathroom are all on this level. The house has two porches, one on each level and both have spectacular views. The cabin is located very close to One of the owners clubs swimming pools. The use of the owners club is one of the perks of renting this cabin. There is only one thing you cannot avoid about this cabin, and that is the driveway. The driveway is very steep, coming and going. Smaller cars might have trouble with navigating the drive way. I would recommend pulling up the first driveway then backing into sugar boogers drive way. Any suv or pickup truck should have no problems coming or going. All in all it was a great stay, the staff at mt. Laurel were extremely friendly, and we had a great stay. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a place in Gatlinburg to stay.

For what is was it was wonderful. A cabin in Gatlinburg on a mountain. The driveway scared me I have a Ford svt Raptor so scratching or flipping it was not an option. Hot water turned off during shower and did not turn back on. The kitchen was well stocked but it was needing love downstairs bathroom was molding. Overall I would go back because it was mine and my husband's first cabin in the area but only for nestalgic reasons.

Arrived Thursday, October 30 for a 3 night stay. Cabin old but in ok condition, good layout. Friday night into Saturday an unexpected snow storm came in dumping 8inches of snow. Awoke "cold" early Saturday AM finding out power was out (later found out it went out at 4am). Office had given us a complimentary bundle of wood, small at best, however, wood wet as it was freshly cut wood, making it difficult to start. Contacted office regarding impassable driveway and their reply was that they did not plow driveways and that only some of the cabins had shovels and salt. AFter freezing all day, I decided to attempt to clear some of the drive. Fortunately I was able to drive car to street where I parked. Decided to get a hotel as power was still out at 7pm, costing us another $150. Returned to the office next morning explaining our troubles and all they said was sorry, cant help you. Snow is an act from God. A couple of things come to mind. 1. have shovels and salt available at all the "mountain" cabins where it may snow more readily than in the town. 2. Offer your "trapped" guests additional firewood, maybe a ride in town via truck as the roads were cleared by late morning, 3. offer to credit 1 night rent since no power, no heat, no shower, etc. A little bit of southern hospitality may have been nice. My suggestion: Think twice before renting a cabin in the higher elevations during spring, fall and winter, and check with the rental company what they are willing to do for you if you are stranded in a cabin with no power or transportation. Next time we will stay in a hotel in the city. Thank goodness we didn't have any small children or a baby!!

The snow on Halloween night was a record breaking event taking trees down and power went out on most of Ski Mountain. Snow is beautiful, but inconvenient when it comes in fast and heavy. We try and warn our guests to come prepared for snow, but we were taken by surprise this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused you.

It was a great location and very clean, but the property is in need of some general repairs. Peeling wallpaper, cracking baseboards, and it would have been nice to have a warning about the driveway. The way it is laid out, it was almost impossible for us to park our suburban. Every time we pulled in we had to back in and turn around on someone else's property. But overall it was a great stay.

This was the 1st time I've rented a cabin myself. Me and my wife had just got married and I wanted to do something special for our honeymoon. It was a great time and the cabin felt like home. We both enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival, I had to pull up another gravel driveway to back into the driveway for the cabin we had stayed at because the angle was too narrow to pull my truck in. The driveway to the cabin is connected to another gravel driveway that goes in another direction from the road. Both are pretty steep so I would recommend having a 4 wheel drive vehicle otherwise you may have trouble getting in.

We had a great week in Gatlinburg. The staff at the Mount Laurel main office was friendly and check in was well organized. This chalet had a beautiful view of the mountains from the front deck The interior was clean but needed some minor maintenance, (light bulbs burned out, ceiling tile in bathroom coming down, wall paper peeling). The kitchen was stocked with ample supplies, (plates, glasses, and cookware). The exterior was also in need of maintenance, (deck and chalet needed painting, debris behind the house, broken and cracked stepping-stone walkway to hot tub), BEWARE of the DRIVEWAY. EXTREMELY STEEP entrance to chalet). Best to BACK IN. There were several restaurants that delivered to this area.We enjoued a pizza delivered from Volunteer Pizza, and dined at Roadhouse ,(the chalet provided a 10% discount here), TGI Friday’s and Calhoun’s in Gatlinburg. All meals and service were exceptional. There is a grocery store just beyond the strip where we bought food and supplies for in- cabin meals. We hiked the 1.3 mile trail to Laurel Falls and ran across a mama black bear and her two cubs, (great photos of them as well as the falls), drove the 11 miles around Cades Cove, (more great photos), toured Ober Gatlinburg which was less than 5 miles from our chalet and shopped at many of the stores up and down the Gatlinburg strip. Aside from the minor aesthetics mentioned, we had a great time. I would use this company and rent this (or other) chalets again. Great value, beautiful scenery, comfortable house, close enough to attractions yet away from it all.

I rented the Sugar Booger cabin from Mountain Laurel Chalets. We could not even stay at the cabin because of the large population of bears right in front of the cabin front doors. We waited over almost an hour for the bears to leave, but only one did. Immediately I called Mountain Laurel Chalets only getting a run around for three days. We stayed at a 5 star hotel right down the road at the Bearskin Lodge.
