Bare's End

We reported sink not draining in the bathroom and hot tub jets not working. Was fixed by the time we returned to the cabin that evening. Great job by maintenance.

Beautiful mountain and valley views, clean and well furnished home. Lovely deck, hot tub. well appointed, nothing needed. Plenty of bear sightings. Yes, the road to home is curvy and hilly but you can't have the view of you don't make the climb. By second day, road travel was no issue. Staff was also very welcoming and communication was excellent. Thanks for sharing your cabin.... It was quite memorable.

While we did enjoy the beautiful mountain view, and the cabin was wonderful, we never want to drive that winding steep drop-off road again. Few guard rails, very difficult to see around curves, especially at night. This was a first time experience for us and we loved everything about our stay except that drive up the mountain.

We really enjoyed staying at Bares End only a few things that would have made the stay better. Need a TV in the bedroom we have stayed in several cabins and this one is the first one that didn't have a TV in the Bedroom. The shower head needs to be replaced!! We have been staying with Mountain Laurel for over 30 years!!

We found Bares End to be in a decent location, clean, other than some up high dust bunnies. The furniture was comfortable, the bed as well. Everything that we needed was provided and functioned well. The hot tub was amazing! Lot's of rebuilding in the area, so there's quite a few contractors roaming about and can be a bit noisy.

We never have a bad stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets. I highly recommend using them.

This chalet is beautiful! Just enough space. The pictures do not serve it justice! New developments coming in around it.. the view was awesome... I think this set-up was one of the safest for those that may be traveling alone, girls trips etc. The back deck off the kitchen is enclosed and no one can access it from the driveway or front door-which is where the grill and jacuzzi are placed; easier to enjoy it on late nights without fear of bears/people scrolling around the bend of a chalet. Had some problems with the electric gas grill but we finally got it going-may need to be replaced as it appears someone damaged it or its life is on its last burner.

Yes! Bare's end is the perfect location for a nice family getaway, or just a weekend getaway with friends! One of our favorite features of the house is also the enclosed deck where you can safely enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains below, or relax in the hot tub. Nice Cabin with good view. Driveway and parking are ample, but if you pull in you will most likely have to back out to the road (which was easy to do). Parking is fairly level and great for unloading and loading.
As always, Mountain Laurel provided a clean and comfortable chalet/cabin, with great customer service. We have been renting from Mountain Laurel for over 30 years and have never been disappointed with their service.

This was our second time staying at Bare's End, the second trip was just as wonderful as the first. The chalet was very accommodating, modern, a Great Smokey Mountain view. Loved the wood burning fireplace, we had a fire every night during our stay. Tough to be criticalof this place, once you are there, it's hard to leave. I'm sure we will stay there again!!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Bare’s End. The cabin was just as advertised (except for the very steep driveway). It was conveniently located between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, if you don’t mind traveling up and down the winding mountain road. The view would be better in the spring or summer. It’s a great place to stay for a couple or a small family.

The cabin was nice clean. Location was not what was stated on the website. It is not located 5 mins from Gatlinburge Mtn laurel office is ☹️Cabin needs to furnish high chairs for infants and toddlers parents should not have to bring. Also picture appears driveway is level to drive in it is not.

Debbie, We are sorry you were not satisfied with your stay at Bare's End. Most guests absolutely love this house from other reviews posted. The location of the cabin on the website is the exact address of the cabin (817 Wiley Oakley Drive) and the website even provides a link to the google map with the exact location. There are two ways that GPS will take you to downtown and the route the spur is a closer option but traffic is aways a factor which is why we do not give a determined amount of minutes to get to a downtown destination. As a rule for safety we do not provide infant accessories but have a company that provides items such as cribs and high chairs for guests that are unable to travel with them. Our office staff is always available via phone or email to answer any questions or concerns you have while you are with us. Lastly the front of the house has a level drive (photo on site) and there is a small hill down to access from the road which is visible from the drone photo looking at the back of the house towards the road. We will make a change to the description stating that there is a downward hill as you approach the house at the beginning of the drive in order to access the house from the road.

Another glorious couple of days in the mountains. Bare's End did not disappoint. View was fantastic!! I know there are several comments regarding the driveway but we had no problem. Glad we didn't let that deter us. My only comment on this, and several other chalets we have stayed at, is the owners need to add hooks to hang clothes on and more towel racks in the bathrooms.

We had an issue with the DVD player, but mountain Laurel chalets were very responsive and helped resolve it. New batteries are needed in the master bedroom closet light & the downstairs DVD player is old & won’t load/run. Except those minor issues our vacation was excellent. Look forward to another visit in the future

We had a wonderful time during our 5 day get away. The chalet was clean and well maintained. The views off the back deck were great. We enjoyed the hot tub and the air hockey table. The property management company had friendly, helpful workers. Our only concern was the steep driveway and the treacherous drive up to the house. I would highly recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a place to stay in Gatlinburg.

The Bare's End cabin was nice, clean and comfortable. We did have rainy weather during our stay and the view was sometimes obstructed. When it did clear off the view was very scenic. We did enjoy the hot tub a few times and had fun playing air hockey. Mountain Laurel Chalets was friendly and offered to help in any way we might need. The drive way was a surprise when we arrived. With a full size pickup truck it was a little tight getting turned around so I didn't have to back up the steep drive onto the road. After the first time I backed down the drive for easier exit when we left again. Overall a nice experience and we would recommend others to stay at Bare's End.

Nice newer chalet but seems like an investment property that they cut too many corners on. First chalet we have stayed in that we wouldn't go back to.
None of the things are huge but they all add up.
2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms none are connected to a bedroom, and one bathroom is in the basement without a bedroom on that floor. Not a single light dimmer in the place even in the nice soaking bathroom. No outlet on back deck because it is covered by the hot tub. The two good seats in the hot tub face the house. Ceiling fans don't have remotes and you can't reach the chains so you better like the speed they are set on. No light in big walk in closet. Shouldn't have to use a flashlight in closet when downstairs they put a switched light in a 3 by 3 storage whole. Smaller bed makes you both roll to the center. Tall backed chair in living room had something broken that made you lean to the left. Basement toilet needed set properly as it would rock when you sat down.
It just seemed that no one really cared about this place and out of the 12 or so cabins we have stayed in this is the first one we would say that about.

This property felt like a new cabin. It was sparkling clean and had all the amenities you would want: a gorgeous view, W/D, air hockey, nice TVs, comfortable beds and a wonderful walk-in shower. (There's also a big tub in the basement bathroom and hot tub, though we didn't use it) We found this to be a great cabin for traveling with an elderly person. My 84-year-old mom could negotiate the two front steps easily, and she loved the walk-in shower. With the great view off the back deck, she felt like she was enjoying the outdoors even when my daughter and I wanted to be away for a few hours hiking. The kitchen is well equipped and had far more utensils and dishes than we would ever use on a vacation. Some reviews talked about the driveway, and it is steep. But I got used to it quickly and didn't feel like I needed a 4-wheel drive in summer. (Winter would be a different thing.) I also found that in a regular passenger car, I could carefully make a three-point turn -- or more like a 9-point turn -- in the space in front of the cabin to turn around and go out of the drive "headfirst"". The location gave us two ways to get off the mountain and into the park

The stars aligned when I selected Bare's End for a 3 night getaway. This trip was for me and my sister and I was guided to this property because my online search told me it had the right layout for her physical challenges-the bedrooms were on the main floor and there was a generous walk-in shower.
Let me say that was just the beginning. Every detail about this cabin is so charming, inviting and accommodating. From the beautiful fireplace to the well-appointed, modern kitchen; from the large back deck to the entire lower level; we were in love with it all. We will be back!!

The only thing I would say is the soaking tub is smaller than it looks in the picture. But otherwise, was a fantastic location and we had a wonderful time! I have always used Mountain Laurel Chalets for my cabin/chalet rentals and have been very happy with the office staff and my overall experience with their service, prices, and cabins. The only improvement that I would recommend is when the housekeeping staff cleans a cabin, they fully check to see that all lights work and everything seems to be in ship shape working condition. This relative new cabin was nice and in a good location, but I found light bulbs missing, towel and toilet paper holders not affixed properly to the wall brackets, clocks not working, and the hot tub cover not properly anchored down as it should have been. I would stay in this cabin again, but if I were staying longer, I would have insisted that the maintenance staff come and take care of some of these issues. I missed not being able to go into the office and talking with the staff. I will continue to use and recommend MLC to others, but would like to see more detail inspections of the cabins before I check in.

Spring time in the Smokies is magical and sounds like you hit it at a good time. The best thing about spring in the mountains is the mild temperatures and beautiful sunshine with clear mountain views. The foilage on the mountain emerges from winter and brings with it all sorts of birds and other creatures. Every season has it's own beauty, but spring may just be the best. We had a great experience. The cabin itself was so huge and so new and spotlessly cleaned. I hate to say anything negative but you need to know that the roads are scary for somebody with height issues or bald tires. Also a heads up that the short driveway is very steep. If you can handle that then this is a perfect cabin.The gameroom and bar in the big basement was a great bonus

The best way to experience the mountains is to stay in the mountains and that means traveling mountain roads. The roads to the cabin are all two lane and paved, but only about a 10 minute drive to town. The driveway is also paved and is steep at the top, but levels out in the parking area. We would be happy to recommend cabins closer down the mountain, but you will be giving up that VIEW! Once you got tucked in, we are glad to hear you enjoyed the house itself. It was rebuilt after the wildfires of 2016, so is practically brand new. The most unique feature is the claw foot tub, which our guests Love! We hope to see you in the mountains again soon.

This is a nice house that was equipped with all we needed. The mountain view was spectacular. And I enjoyed our nightly fire in the fireplace. The driveway was challenging. That would be the only negative concer is the driveway. Overall..this is a really nice,cleaned home.

Bare’s End is a fantastic cabin, perfect for a family of four. The home was extremely clean, well stocked, & comfortable. The views are breathtaking, we enjoyed the deck and the hot tub especially. There were some pretty competitive games on the air hockey table in the evening. One of the clubhouses was right down the street (very convenient). We did find that backing down the driveway was the easiest way to get in and out of the property. Great location, & quiet. We will definitely be booking through Mountain Laurel Chalets in the future!!

Also, future guests will appreciate your tip about navigating the driveway. Unless you have a very large vehicle, there is room to turn around in the parking area if backing down is an issue.

We absolutely loved our stay at bares end. The cabin is beautiful and has a beautiful view of the mountains. This is by far our favorite cabin we've stayed in. From breakfast on the deck in the morning to soaking in the hot tub in the evenings. This cabin was equipped with everything we needed. We also loved having pool access during the day when town got overcrowded.

Beautiful mountain home, very rustic, loved the decor, view was wonderful. Bear's End was very accommodating, you feel like your at home with all of the modern conveniences. Definitely a place to revisit sometime in the future.

Perfect cabin with a great layout. Very cozy and everything was well kept and new. Great place to relax with amazing views. The proximity to Gatlinburg strip was perfect. Parking was a bit precarious, as there isn't really enough room to turn around (backing out was actually easier).

We loved this chalet. Comfortable furniture. Nicely decorated with bear theme. Kitchen was well stocked. Chairs on the deck could use some cushions. Hot tub was delightful. Fabulous view. Will request this chalet again.

We stayed at Bare's End with Mountain Laurel Chalet at the end of September. The people at Mountain Laurel are so friendly and accommodating. The cabin was spotlessly clean and had many extra touches that made it so inviting when we opened the door at our arrival. We have stayed with them many times and will continue to do so.

Bare's End is a beautiful cabin that had everything we needed. There is so much to do in the Smokey Mountains but we also enjoyed just being at the cabin and enjoying the view.
