Smoky Chalet

I have to say the smoky chalet has one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. It made my 3 teenagers stop in their tracks and just take in the beauty. Smokey chalet is so special to us and we've only visited it once so far. Most days we didn't even leave, it had everything we needed. We fell absolutely in love with Gatlinburg and the smoky chalet and MLC.

The cabin was absolutely amazing. The pictures don't do it justice and the views were breathtaking. Our friends had trouble getting their small car up the road to the cabin but my husband didn't have any trouble with his truck. My husband, daughter and I will definitely be back, to this cabin in particular. I would definitely recommend it!

Our stay was very enjoyable. The chalet was clean and comfortable. Our kiddos enjoyed the arcade games as well as the board games that were available. We also enjoyed just sitting on the deck and taking in the view of the mountains. We would definitely stay here again.

The chalet was amazing inside. The views of Mt. LeConte out of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the Main Room are incredible. The Chalet was very clean and spacious. The beds appear to be memory foam mattresses, which are what we have at home, so the bed in the Main upstairs bedroom was very comfortable, even though the headboard squeaked a little. Speaking of squeaking, the stairs squeaked when you walked on them and the floor creaked if someone was walking upstairs, but no big deal. The furniture was a modern mid-century museum with all the required mid-century pieces including the star burst clocks and the thin legged tables - I love modern mid-century.The view of the mountains off the upstairs balcony was incredible. Since you are much higher up than surrounding houses, you have complete privacy in the main upstairs bedroom even with the curtains fully opened to the floor-to-ceiling windows. On the upstairs balcony you have mostly full privacy. There is a downstairs bedroom with a Kingsize bed, but no view, though it was very cozy looking. The third bedroom (upstairs) has two single-wide beds for the kids. The chalet had a working Alexa to play music or to ask questions about events, which we used throughout our stay. The TVs also had a couple streaming services, including Netflix, which is a great benefit.There were a few minor issues and one semi-major issue with the chalet that I should explain. The hot tub does not have full privacy from the next door neighbor, who was there the same time we were. Not a big deal, depending on what you plan on doing at the hot tub. Another minor issue is the TV in the great room did not have cable - only streaming services. For me that was a minor annoyance. The TV in the small den area where you enter has cable, but that is not really a room to watch TV, IMO. The TV in the bedroom also only had streaming services, though one of the streaming services (HULU) does show local channels.The semi-major issue is the driveway getting up to the cabin. Because of the design of the driveway, you can only enter the driveway from one direction. If you get to the cabin the quickest/shortest way, you cannot go up the driveway; you have to go up the road, find a turnaround (not easy on narrow mountain roads) and come back to the driveway. Then going up the driveway is an adventure in itself. It is very steep and narrow and curves on the way up. Your vehicle better have a strong engine and a good transmission. Because of the narrowness of the driveway and how it curves, I do not know how a fullsize vehicle, especially a wide truck, could make it up the driveway and if you go off the edge, there is a 3–4 foot drop-off into a stand of trees! Because of this issue, we agreed that even though the chalet was incredible with incredible views, we probably won't rent this chalet again. This is why it didn't get 5 stars. Overall, we had a great time.

We loved staying at the chalet for our recent vacation. It was honestly one of the best vacation experiences we've ever had. First of all, the view of Mt. LeConte from the floor-to-ceiling windows was absolutely breathtaking. I don't think I've ever seen a more stunning view from a cabin. And the chalet itself was very spacious and clean - we had plenty of room to spread out and relax.One of my favorite things about the chalet was the Mid-century modern furniture. The star-burst clocks and thin legged tables really gave it a cool, retro vibe. And the balcony off the main bedroom had some amazing views of the mountains - it was private and peaceful in the bedroom. There is a small backyard with lawn chairs and a firepit, which is a cool amenity - not many cabins have that.Another thing we loved about the chalet was that it had Alexa. We could play music and ask questions without even having to lift a finger. We also appreciated that the TVs had Netflix - we were able to catch up on some of our favorite shows in the evenings. The only minor issue we had was that the main TV in the great room didn't have cable - it only had streaming services. But the TV in the small den had cable, so we were still able to watch TV, but that room is not very conducive for watching TV, in my opinion.There were a few minor issues we had with the chalet. The hot tub wasn't totally private; it can be viewed by the next door neighbor from their balcony, but that was a minor issue for us.Now, let's talk about the driveway, which others have mentioned. It can only be entered from one direction, which can be a bit tricky and frustrating. If you enter it from the shortest way to the chalet, you have to pass the driveway and turnaround, which isn't easy on narrow mountain roads. And the driveway itself is very steep and narrow - you definitely need a strong engine and a good transmission to make it up there. There's a 3-4 foot dropoff if you miss the driveway, so you have to be really careful. I'm not sure how someone with a fullsize vehicle, like a wide pickup truck, would be able to use the driveway. You may have to park at the bottom.All in all, though, I would highly recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful mountain getaway. The views are incredible, the chalet itself is super cool and retro, and it has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Just make sure you have a good car and good driving skills!

We enjoyed our stay at Smoky Chalet. As others have said, it does have one of the more challenging driveways we've encountered, but we were in a large SUV and managed just fine. It does work better to go past it and turn around, or just take the longer route and come in the other direction. The house is nicely furnished, and the kitchen seemed to be well equipped (we didn't do any cooking). Hot tub worked fine, and the cabin offers beautiful views. One suggestion would be to have some instructions for the TV, we're not familiar with streaming services and could only figure out how to receive two channels.

It's a trek to get to the cabin and I would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle but it is well worth the trip! The pictures did not do the cabin justice. Everything was clean, tidy and adorably decorated for Christmas! We loved everything about our stay here. If you're all about the views while still having the comforts of home definitely give this one a try! My husband, daughter and I will definitely be back (not sure about our friends who joined us as they were terrified of the road lol)! We can't wait to come back

I have rented from Mtn. Laurel Chalets several times, and have never been disappointed. This property was exceptional.Appliances were clean and modern, beds were comfortable, house was clean, Furniture was in very good condition. I have not seen a better view of Mt, Leconte.
Lots of mentions I have seen about the driveway, but I notice that many driveways on that mountain are designed that way. I loved the arcade games. The only recommendation for improvement, please put out some good instructions on how to access television services.

Beautiful view. It was well cleaned, supplied. All appliances were clean, modern, and functional. This place is very comfortable. Driveway is a challenge, but if you notice, almost all drives on this mountain are situated the same (deal with it). Beds are very comfortable. Pet bears gave us good company. I have stayed with this rental company several times, and have never been disappointed. Excellent service from the staff. The only recommendation I have for improvement -- better instructions for accessing the televisions.

Staff was helpful in getting us checked in. Home was nice, but could have used some additional cleaning as cobwebs were noted and exterior seating and decks were dirty. Still, the view is amazing and we would stay here again and have recommended it to friends.

We especially loved how the location being quieter and away from yet within reach of the super-toursity Gatlinburg (and even Pigeon Forge). And of course - you can't beat the view of the moutains from the patios (assuming it isn't a cloudy day). :-D

The house was well equipped and include almost everything you can imagine you need in a vacation rental. I especially love the decor and the little features of the rooms - it adds great character to the spaces.

A very positive feature of this rental was the main-floor bedroom with full bath, which was critical since our vacation party included members with limited mobility who would have trouble using stairs too often.

Some minor areas of improvement for the rental are in the kitchen. For one, it would be MOST HELPFUL to have a vented hood for the oven that vents to outside the house. We smoked out the kitchen a couple times baking a tray of bacon in the oven or cooking steak on the stovetop. Another area of improvement is the kitchen cabinet drawer pulls. The hexagon knobs are really cute, but the edges are SHARP.

Overall, this rental was very comfortable and well appointed, which made our vacation stay the most enjoyable it can be.

Great home with hot tub amenity and fabulous view with good amount of space. Internet was spotty at times and with only streaming TV options. Only real downside was entrance to drive was awkward to navigate in and out.

I’ve stayed in many cabins with my husband and family over the last 16 years and this was by far the best one we’ve ever stayed it! Most importantly to me, the cabin was exceptionally clean and well maintained! That immediately makes me feel comfortable. The cabin has been tastefully remodeled and decorated and not a detail left undone. These owners have thought of everything from tons of great games to any utensil/cooking item you could need. I notice when someone has taken the time to go the extra mile and these owners have definitely done just that. The beds were sooooo comfortable. Memory foam mattresses and the master had memory foam pillows. It was wonderful. My kids had an amazing time playing all the arcade games. Last, but for sure not least, the view is something out of a magazine! During our stay, it snowed 5-6' and the view was simply amazing!!! Drinking coffee looking out at the Smoky Mountains was definitely a treat and something I will never forget. We had such a wonderful family getaway and hats off to the owners for going the extra mile with their wonderful cabin! We enjoyed it so much and are definitely planning on when we can come back!

It was a climb up the mountain but the view is to die for. The home was very clean, it has utensils for cooking and making coffee. The kids enjoyed the games and there was Wi-Fi for phones and computers and TV. It was hard to leave and we want to come stay again for sure!

Yes! Smoky Chalet is a truly beautiful chalet, and the owner has done a fantastic job of maintaining the integrity of the original Gatlinburg chalet architecture. This chalet is everything you need for a great stay. Ot far from the strip and easy to find, as for the driveway it is doable if you are careful. If the fire pit was moved you could turn around there maybe something to think about.Mountain Laurel chalets are the best to work with. We will use this one again, it had a great few.

The Smokey Chalet was a perfect quiet night weekend stay. The space is spacious and exceptionally clean! We loved the decor and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor amenities and cozy living spaces. We would have loved to stay longer and will stay here again. The only issue we had was the driveway/parking. The driveway is steep, as we expected due to the chalet having stellar views of the smokies. However, once you get to the top of the drive way, there’s little room to turn around to go back down to the main road. We have a full cab Ford F-150 and had to back down the driveway, which was a little tricky. A smaller vehicle would have been able to turn around in the drive way. Overall, excellent stay!

We just returned home from our stay at the Smoky Chalet. We loved our time spent there. It was so nice and clean. Let me tell you, the photos do not do it or the views justice! We arrived arrived late at night and were stunned by our morning view. Like the other reviewers said, the drive way was a little tight, but after one time of turning around, my husband didn’t have any difficulty getting our minivan maneuvered.10/10 would recommend!!

This cabin was great! The views were awesome. Like the others said, the driveway was steep and no where to turn around, but it was fairly easy to back down it. The location of the house was perfect and very private. We enjoyed our stay here!

The home was spacious with a great view out into the mountains, very clean with everything you need in a home away from home, it was comfortable and plenty of fun staying inside, the games were entertaining for a night indoors and the view out front in the morning with a cup of coffee was heavenly, everything about it was perfect, however if there's 1 negative thing about it for me was the driveway, although at the top close to the home there was some space to turn the vehicle around, it felt like you had to be a well adept driver other wise you would have to either back the car up the driveway, or drive straight up and back the car downhill,felt dangerous, it could definitely use more space at least above in the driveway, and even with that it wouldn't take away from all the great things we experienced, even had a visitor come great us in the front gate,black bears were very active during our stay so it was fun watching them in our back yard. Overall it was a wonderful spot, fun, well equipped and it was a gorgeous home, we would most definitely enjoy staying again at the smoky chalet if we ever get the chance to visit again.
