Shelet De Dawn #2

Shelet de Dawn #2 is my favorite cabin! We have stayed in it multiple times! Being an army brat we moved a lot and usually weren’t around family we could see! Each time we have stayed in this cabin we were with precious family, whether it be grandparents, great grandparents, cousins or are children! These times are so precious to me! Making beautiful memories I will cherish always!

This is our 6th or 7th stay at Shelet de Dawn since the fire. The place is always clean and well kept and stocked. The view is amazing!! The folks at the office are always very helpful and respond to any issue in a timely manner. There did seem to be a Wi-Fi issue with our phones as well as our computers. Never had this problem before but this trip the Wi-Fi kept going in and out. It would work fairly well for a while but then not work for a while. Not sure what the problem was but just wanted you to be aware in case others were having the same issue. Thank you to the cleaning crew, garbage pickup crew and the entire staff for a job well done. Also, thanks for the Thanksgiving pies. A very nice and delicious surprise!!

Thanks for letting us know about the wifi; being on the mountain, there are occasionally glitchy moments due to wind and weather that are, unfortunately, out of our control. We'll keep an eye on it for sure!

Just really loved this chalet. I actually love all of the chalets I have stayed in with Mt. Laurel. Will definitely stay again..you guys are AWESOME!!. Love everything about Mr. Laurel..always a great time! I could go on and on, but i won't! :-)

Only one minor complaint. Just one hand towel in upstairs master bath. Otherwise, another great experience at Shelet de Dawn 2 since rebuild after 2016 fire.

Shame on you for not letting someone reschedule their trip or give a partial refund when they found out about their beloved pet dying of cancer! Seems a bit heartless and I will not use, nor recommend your rental company… many other better rental companies people can use when renting Gatlinburg area accommodations! What a heartless and very selfish thing to do!

Overall everything was great. On arrival, two of the bathrooms did not have towels--so a trip down the mountain easily fixed. The deck chairs are uncomfortable. Overall, our favorite chalet!

House was great except the last two days upstairs air went out and couldn’t be fixed while we were there.Those were some hot days and pool table room some comfortable furniture would have been nice so we could have enjoyed the large screen TV.

Shelet De Dawn 2 was the perfect size for 8 guests. Very spacious with game rooms and two decks. Hot tub was the cleanest we've ever seen in a rental! Office staff were very friendly and helpful. We appreciated their advice of locking car doors, as we saw 9 bears and a young bobcat in a 4 day period. We requested a full propane tank for the grill and the speedy maintenance dept had it replaced within 20 minutes. Can't say enough positive things about Mtn. Laurel Chalets! The only thing we would change about our cabin is to add a swing or two on the decks, but what a gorgeous view! Thank you MLC for making our vacation so enjoyable!!

My grown kids said this was the best cabin we ever rented. The view was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of room and we loved that each bedroom had their own bathroom. We liked having the pool table, hot tub and Frogger game table. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Yes! Shelet De Dawn 2 is everything that you've described, it is perfect for large families, or even a vacation with friends. There is plenty to keep you entertained while there, but it is close to town so you can also enjoy everything that Gatlinburg has to offer as well. Positive experience, clean, and great views. Family friendly, even with little babies. Spent a lot of time on the deck. We love to cook, but the knifes were very dull. It made difficult to prepare meals. The game machine was a huge hit!

The motion sensor in the bedroom is very bright when it is dark. Caused our babies to wake up in the middle of the night. Had to cover it.

This is the third fall that we have rented Shelet de Dawn 2. The chalet is a perfect fit for our family of six. Everyone has their own bath, all rooms are large, the kitchen is well equipped, decking on two levels is spacious and affords great mountain views, lower level is great gathering space with pool table, TV, and video game table. The chalet is always spotless.

We loved this home. It was spacious and very clean and the views were amazing. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked with every dish, pan and utensil that we needed. Have always had a great experience renting through Mountain Laurel and this was no exception. Cheryl has always taken good care of us and we will definitely miss her when she retires in Dec. However, Pam, seems to be a very good replacement! Our stay was great! It is roomy, clean, and well stocked with all amenities one would need. My wife and I have rented this particular chalet since the fire and rebuild and even though it very roomy and pricey for just 2 people our family was able to join us this year and they loved it We did have a problem with what we thought was a smoking odor but later determined that it was probably the routine bug extermination odor. It was very strong when you went out and came back in the Chalet. They did try to help us out and send up maintenance to use an ionizer for a few hours to see if that would help. It didn't but we got use to the smell eventually.

I have stayed in chalets by Mountain Laurel Chalets since 1989 and have always been pleased, but THIS place is the most amazing I have ever experienced. We had a bear poke its nose thru the window in the front door, a bobcat strut down the road in the afternoon, and a coyote run past our place at night! The views are incredible! We want to come back again!

This is a must stay. Loved it. There were seven of us-5 adults and 2 teens. We had plenty of space to spread out. The house was clean and had everything needed to cook a full course meal. The gas grill was a great plus. The hot tub was wonderful after long hikes. The views off the back deck were amazing. Perfect location on the mountain side. Definitely will stay again. Highly recommended.

This is a must stay. Loved it all. We had a party of 7 and plenty of room to spread out. The house sits on the mountain side with great views of Mt Leconte. Couldnt get enough of the views every morning and evening. . The mountain roads were windy but not as steep as the other side of ski mountain road. We had Bear visitors everyday. Even saw them open our neighbors car and steal their bread. The house was clean and well stocked with kitchen supplies to cook a full course meal. The grill was a great plus. The hot tub was great after long hikes. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again.

We take a long weekend trip together every year with three other couples. This house was perfect with four bedrooms and four baths and plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed the spectacular view from the porch where we could visit and get away from the crowds in town. The road up the mountain is a challenge and bears in your car is no joke. It happened to us! The rental agency couldn't have been nicer. There was a massive internet outage when we arrived and they were very gracious offering to help us take care of transmitting an important business document.

Thanks for the review and understanding about the cable outage. The entire county and part of the next were down for almost a day and a half when a construction crew cut a fiber optic line that feeds the area. It was quite frustrating for some of our guests, but we were at the mercy of Spectrum cable. Fortunately, we have a back up plan and were able to continue on with our internet and phone systems. We are always happy to help our guests in any way we can. Shelet De Dawn is absolutely PERFECT for 4 couples with private bedrooms and en suite baths. One of the most popular features is the large covered decks with an outstanding view of Mt LeConte. We hope you are making plans to return next year!

The chalet was spacious and roomy. Loved the game rooms. Kitchen was well stocked, didn’t like the stove on the island. Like the entrance from the utility room.
The 2 queen beds were more like full beds. Parking was adequete the pulling in and pulling out was a little sketchy in our big truck. We did see a bear in the front of the house. Overall i would rent this chalet again.

The house truly is beautiful and the view from either of the large back decks is breathtaking. I also loved the spaciousness of the house. We did have one issue, but the property management staff took care it immediately.

All in all, this house is a fantastic place for families to stay, play, laugh, and help create vacation memories.

Oh...I almost forgot, there is a hot tub too. We didn't use it, but it looked clean and ready to go.

We loved everything about this chalet. The driveway comfortably fit 3 cars and could have fit a 4th. The view was spectacular. We were greeted by a momma bear on the front steps one morning! The rooms were great, my kids loved the pool table and area downstairs for gaming. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with the amazing view. This is our 4th time in Gatlinburg and the 3rd time staying with Mountain Laurel Chalets and they have been friendly each time.

We really enjoyed our stay in Shelet De Dawn 2! Due to schedule change we had to choose this house over our original choice and truly could have fit another family in the house with us, it was so big. Our teenagers loved the pool table and game room. We spent a lot of time at the house playing games on the porch and having meals together. The drive to the house is no joke. It is steep and narrow with many turns and switchbacks. It takes at least 10 minutes to get down so plan your trips to town efficiently so you don't have to go back and forth. The view is worth the long drive to get anywhere! This house was the cleanest we've ever rented.

The rental was everything we had hoped it would be. Beautiful home, well kept, scenic view. There were a couple of minor things that need to be addressed: There was no cutting board in the kitchen, sounds minor but you need to protect your countertops; also, there needs to be detailed instructions for operating the television system. Luckily, we had someone with us who figured it out --- but there are no instructions pertaining to the television setup anywhere in the condo; need grab bars in all tub areas --- could become a liability issue. These are all minor and not intended to diminish the condo. As I said earlier, it met all our expectations.

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Shelet De Dawn. We got into the chalet to check out your issues and found two glass cutting boards on either side of the island range. We thought maybe you mistook them for decorations, we we left a large, plastic, more traditional, cutting board in the kitchen cabinet. The television instructions are also being typed out to be sent to the chalet. The new smart TV technology takes some getting used to, but we will get there eventually. Until then, if you ever need help, our maintenance team stands ready to assist you. We hope to see you in the mountains again soon.

The property was exactly as advertised, clean, everything in working order.
We had 2 issues. There was a dead mouse. We could faintly smell it (living in the country we know the smell) but couldn't find it...until the day we left. It was behind the dryer. Totally out of your control.
Second issue is I got sick from drinking the water out of the refrigerator dispenser. We had bottled water the whole weekend, but I topped one of mine off for a Crystal Light and was violently sick after. That is the one and only thing I ate/drank differently from the others. Probably due to the construction, but please consider flushing the water throughout the house.

The chalet has a beautiful view, was very clean, had a well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and very functional bathrooms. The pool table, the video game, and the hot tub were in excellent condition. We used them all!
We were four adults and one child and had a great stay!

The driveway is a bit of a challenge - steep and limited space. We were not supplied with enough dishwasher powder... Only two packets for a seven day stay but these were minor inconveniences.

Highly recommend this chalet and Mountain Laurel Chalets.

The driveway is a bit steep on one side when you come in from the road, but the parking area is level with plenty of room for 4 cars if you park behind 1 or 2 of them. Please let the office know if you run out of supplies that are provided with the rental. Even though the office is closed for linen exchange due to covid, we would be happy to leave out extra soap for the kitchen. We appreciate your recommending us and hope to see you back in the mountains again soon.

Had a wonderful time with all my family in the chalet, it was the perfect size fir all of us.... the 4 beds and 4 1/2 bath was a big plus... had plenty of room to roam, play video games, play pool and enjoy the hot tub.... the extra amenities were a true addition! Cooked breakfast every morning and did dinner one night on the grill so the kids could enjoy each other’s company!
Will most definitely use this Chalet for the future....

The pictures of this cabin do it no justice!!! This Cabin is very nice and the rental office is just a bonus! Pam was great to speak with and very clear in instructions when getting keys/key code for the cabin. The Canin in a large size with a great view and it was super clean! The kitchen table was perfect for our large group of 8 and the rooms sleep like clouds! Each couple loved the stay, the hospitality of the Rental office, and the Cabin was amazing. We Will Return 100%!!
The pool table was perfect and the room sizes are all large. The top king roomwith the opening to the deck is gorgeous. It’s a must do!

Beautiful property and well maintained. A few things that upcoming guests should know. The road going to the cabin is scary. Half the time there isn’t a guardrail. We are from WV so we are used to driving mountains however there is no way you could drive this road on a snowy day. Second this area was hit by the fires in 2016 therefore there is construction, foundations right next door that hasn’t been cleaned up yet and trash/a mattress beside the house on the hill side, and the blankets were paper thin. The comforter on the bed was as thin as a sheet and there were no extra blankets anywhere. Lastly when we turned on the jets to the hot tub black dirt came out of the jets. It took several hours for the hot tub to warm up and then we had to get it serviced for being so cloudy. Our trip to Gatlinburg was just to sit in the cabin and relax so the hot tub not being useable half the time was a huge bummer. Overall it is a beautiful location, the view is incredible and we would absolutely book again but next time we would be prepared for the things we could change.

Josh, thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your time in the Smokies. I love West Virginia and the beautiful mountains there because they remind me so much of ours. Just like any place else, there are not continuous guardrails on the mountain roads, but they are all two lane and paved. Snow presents a different problem, especially in the county, because the roads are not plowed right away. We advise our guests to come prepared for driving on snow (4 wheel drive or chains) or having plenty of groceries on hand. There have been very few times that our staff could not get around in four wheel drive vehicles, so it's just a matter of being prepared. The owner's bed covers have been put away because of Covid. We are laundering everything that is on the bed between each guest stay, so there are fresh sheets, pillowcases and one waffle blanket on each bed. This information is in an email that is sent with your final payment advising you to bring extra blankets if you are cold natured, but the chalet does have central heat and air. We will be so happy when Covid is behind us and we can resume normal operations.

We arrived in Gatlinburg after the office was closed but had no trouble getting the keys to our Chalet. The chalet was very clean, the rooms are very spacious and each have their own bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room table is big enough for the whole family. The basement has entertainment for all ages, video games, pool table, puzzles, and tons of board games. All the bedrooms also have televisions. The wrap around deck has amazing views and the hot tub was wonderful! Everything was amazing! Highly recommend it!

We are glad you enjoyed the cabin, but sorry you were uncomfortable without the bedspread on the bed. An email is being sent to all our guests when the final payment is made two weeks prior to arrival advising of our Covid procedures. We want to be able to launder everything that a guest would touch while in bed, so we have removed the owner's bedspreads and are using one waffle style blanket instead. That way, all the sheets, pillowcases and blanket put back on the bed are fresh for each new guest. We suggest in the email that you bring extra blankets if you are cold natured, but all of our cabins offer central heat and air, so the thermostat can be turned up as well. We continue to allow only staff in our office and we don't like that either, so we will be happy when we can put covid behind us and get back to doing things the regular way. Until then, the safety of our guests and staff remains our highest priority. Hopefully, the next time you come to the Smokies, things will be different. We hope to welcome you back in our office then too!

There was only two of us. We were only there for a couple of nights. We did not spend a lot of time at the house. The furnishings were a little outdated, but you could tell the owners tried very hard to make it a great cabin

Thanks for the review and we are sorry the style of the chalet was not what you were expecting. We represent each property exactly as it appears on our website and the VRBO website, so you will know in advance what you will be getting. It looks like you booked at the last minute, but we have other smaller properties available, so not sure why you chose such a big house for only two people. The house is a brand new build and all the furnishings are less than 2 years old. The homeowners have provided popular amenities with comfort and convenience in mind. If Shelet De Dawn missed the mark for you, we hope you will consider one of our other properties in the future.

We enjoyed our time here very much. The cabin is great on amenities. We used the jacuzzi, and game room several time. TV's in every room was a great touch. Everything worked well and was new. The furniture and beds were comfortable except for the pillows -flat and hard.
The drive was relatively flat and had plenty of space for my big SUV.
We had bear visitors on Sunday so don't leave your car unlocked. She opened my door, but thankfully did no damage. We had a great time watching her and the cubs from the window.
My only complaint would be the kitchen. It is under stocked with cooking items. No wine glasses, I hate drinking wine from a mug or short glass. No large skillet or pots. We had nothing to fry a big batch of bacon or eggs in and only a medium sized sauce pot to boil pasta. Also no large mixing bowls. Plastic would have been fine, but I needed something for the salad and to mix brownies in.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Shelet De Dawn. It is 15 minutes down the mountain to downtown Gatlinburg and the same to Pigeon Forge. It easily sleeps 8+. It is new, nicely decorated, has a decent driveway, and I cant say enough about the view.

This chalet was beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It was a little high in the mountains but that gave us an awesome view. Just a little nervous driving in the mountains at night! One thing though, I think you should have provided at least 4 towels and washclothes, and 2 hand towels for each bathroom. It's difficult to take showers and have clean towels/washclothes for the next morning.

This is the second year we have stayed in Shelet de Dawn 2. The chalet is perfect for our family of us two grandparents, our son and daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. The chalet is well appointed and stocked with all the essentials. It is spotless. Our mountain views are gorgeous. And we have plenty to do with a hot tub and pool table. The management company is great to work with. We look forward to our return next year.

Spacious, clean, and what a view! We too were visited by mama and 3 cubs. Kitchen is well equipped. We would have liked to re-book for next Oct, but I guess that is too far out. We did have start up issues with the dishwasher, and the TV in the main level living room would not go to the Spectrum cable side of input (possibly a blessing). There was no DVD player---we like to relax after a day of hiking the mountain trails with a favorite movie. Overall, it is our new favorite chalet. After 15 plus years of working with Mt. Laurel--they are still the best! Did miss our T-shirt this year (darn Covid).

Shelet de Dawn #2 was almost new, spacious, and had the best view we have ever had in the mountains. It is higher than we have stayed before, but had ample parking and many bear visits. A mother bear and her 3 cubs visited two days. We so enjoyed watching them at a safe distance from the spacious decks.
The place was very clean and well supplied. The staff was very helpful by phone.
We will definitely stay there again!

Seeing bears is always a treat and we are glad you enjoyed them from the safety of the decks. Always remember to lock your car doors when on the mountain because they can get in if you don't! Overall, the shelet exceeded our expectations and our guests were very pleased. There were a few minor points of unpleasant surprise though:
1. In the lower level king bedroom, underneath the trash cash in the bathroom, there was a red, sticky spill DIRECTLY underneath the trash can... as if someone attempted to hide the spill underneath the can!
2. The upper level king bedroom shower function did not work in the bathroom. The actual handle/knob piece that converts that shuts off the tub faucet and allows the shower to come on was placed on the side of the tub! Our guests had to take baths (versus showers) the entire stay.

This house is absolutely beautiful. The house was very clean and had everything you would need. The views are great. The staff at Mountain Laurel are great to work with very friendly service. The shower in the master on main floor was broken reported it, the staff was very willing to repair it while we were there, both with other showers that c could be used we chose not to have them repair it while we were there, but sure they repa tied it after our departure. Would highly recommend this house..

MTN. Laurel was very attentive to the cleanliness of the chalet and great to work with for our trip. Beautiful cabin with a good view. Plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors. Some cabins are a little close but intrusive.

The north side of the mountain is still recovering from the wildfires of 2016, so with the lack of trees, the cabins can seem a little closer. However, if you look around the county, you will notice the lot sizes on Ski Mountain are very generous compared to other areas where there is only a few feet between structures. And the views offered on Ski Mountain are simply the best! We are planting trees and the earth is recovering from the devastation, so the appearance of the area will slowly improve. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Beverly, Glad you enjoyed your stay. Being in the mountains, and in order to get the majestic views, requires some winding roads. Hundreds travel these roads every day and they are serviced by city and county regularly. We recommend people drive slowly (and the curves require that) and we usually find there to be no problem.
