I love Lucky D III's mid century modern feel. They have one chair I really want to take home with me! The view is great also. We had a very polite bear visit also!

We stayed in Lucky D III for 5 nights. The view was great but the property was neglected. Upon arriving, we noticed that the property was neglected due to debris left behind from a handyman. The beautiful windows were also full of smudges. There was lots of debris at the front entrance, as well as on the balconies (hadn’t been swept). It wasn’t clean. I wore flip flops in the chalet the entire time even in tiled bathroom shower. The washer and dryer are very old and took several cycles to dry our clothes. The kitchen and living room have been renovated but needed a good deep clean. The bedrooms are located on the lower level and that’s where the lack of cleaning was really noticed as well. Lots of dust and cobwebs in bedrooms. Mildew in the showe. Also, the king bed mattress frame would not stay connected. On the upper floor balcony, the roof is rotting so that made for some embarrassing photos sent home to friends and family. After reading a review I left, the CEO did reach out to me and apologize but this didn’t erase the fact that our vacation was made uncomfortable due to the chalet conditions.

Lucky D Iii was a very nice chalet. We enjoyed our stay. We saw one bear during our stay. Only recommendation would be to update mattress, they weren’t very comfortable. Also upgrade cookware, fry pans were all scratched up, couldn’t use them.

We stayed in Lucky D III end of May. We recently discovered we had bed bugs. When my wife called MLC to inform them. Pam stated there was no way we got them there because they have a dog who goes in monthly to check for them. Well obviously the dog missed some! She questioned if we had been anywhere else. NO we haven't. My wife and I have not been on a vacation since Covid started because we are healthcare workers and weren't able to take vacations!! I am appalled at the lack of empathy and customer service shown by MLC! Needless to say we won't be using their services EVER! We have recommended MLC to a lot of friends/family. I can guarantee you after hearing our story they will think twice about renting from them.

Lucky D III truly does have an amazing view; you can get a great look at Ober Gatlinburg, which is one of the many attractions that Gatlinburg has to offer. Our cleaning crew does a fantastic job of making sure all the houses are nice and tidy for our guests, and this beautifully decorated house makes for a great family stay. We are so glad that you overall enjoyed your visit, and we hope to see you again soon.

Loved staying in Lucky D III!!
Didn’t spend too much time there while the weather was nice, but even with snow, rain, or shine, it had a fantastic view! Especially from the hot tub!

Downsides, we noticed our bed wasn’t staying connected(underneath at frame) and there was dirt/popcorn under one of the couches(we moved it to see the tv better), and tile shower could have been a little more clean.

Overall, great experience. Would recommend!

We loved our stay here for 6 nights! It's not the newest cabin/house, but really well decorated, updated in the last several years, modern conveniences, and everything we needed for the 4 of us. We loved the double decks & the hot tub! The views are amazing - the best we've had in our many trips to the smokies. And on our last night we finally saw a momma bear & her three cubs on the slope right below the hot tub & we watched them forage & meander along - best experience! (No issues with bear, just great viewing!) Highly recommend this spot & Mountain Laurel in general, best company to work with!

Lucky D III is the perfect place for an extended stay! The furniture and décor inside really make it feel like a home. We also love the double decks that allow you optimal viewing of the mountains! Another great feature is the covered carport that is attached to the house. We had a wonderful time in Gatlinburg while staying at Lucky D III. The view from the chalet is stupendous! We got to watch all the activity at Ober Gatlinburg, and the coming & going of the tram. The driveway is tricky, and if you're in a large vehicle be aware that turning around is a process. We thoroughly enjoyed the upstairs living area, but feel that certain areas, especially downstairs, could use updating. The house was clean and well-outfitted with dishes, glasses, etc. We especially enjoyed the upper deck, and the hot tub was great and extremely clean.

The master bedroom has a fireplace which is perfect for special occasions. We were celebrating our anniversary and were there Feb 10th thru the 15th. It snowed once but there were zero concerns driving up and down the mountain. You're 1.4 miles from Ober Gatlinburg. We usually park there and take the tram downtown. Excellent choice!

We love this Chalet. Second stay in Lucky D III. Great location. Great back deck views! The Ober slope and tubing lanes to the right, Mt Lecompte straight ahead, and at night, some of Gatlinburg lights to the left. Another great feature of this chalet is that it is a good enough distance from ( (including some trees between,)both next door neighbors, whereby allowing enough auditory privacy to visit on one's deck, as well as if a neighbor smokes, one won't smell it. Have visited this area 10x and rented several vacation properties( 4 rentals with Mountain Laurel and have been very pleased with this company and have recommended both this property and Mountain Laurel Chalets to friends.

We have been vacationing at the Lucky D III for about 12 years and love it more each time! It's all about that mid-century vibe, but each time we come up, the owners have updated it! The upgraded kitchen is just divine and the new LR recliner/sofas are awesome. The view is unsurpassed and they keep the vegetation at bay so that view is unobstructed. We vacation all over the world and Lucky D is a favorite!

Having honeymooned in the Smokies 37 years ago, we have returned dozens of times throughout the years on our anniversary and have stayed at numerous chalets. Lucky D is one of our definite favorites. You won’t get a better view or a better feeling of being secluded in the mountains. With 2 balconies, 2 wood burning fireplaces, and a hot tub we had everything we needed for our romantic week in the mountains. Also loved the updated kitchen and outdoor grilling area. We were sad to leave but can’t wait to return to Lucky D. What an amazing place.

We enjoyed our 10 day stay at Lucky D III. No complaints. The updates to the home were very nice. The description and photos were accurate. The property was clean and well-maintained. It's always a pleasure renting from Mountain Laurel Chalets. The staff are cheerful, kind and willing to help if there is something you should need. It's nice to be able to connect with a person and not a voicemail. We are coming back again this October 2021 and renting from M.L.C. again. Lucky D III is the best of the best Chalet that we have stayed at with Mount Laurel Chalets. So clean. The kitchen has all new appliances. I love all the owl decor and wood floors. We have been to the Gatlinburg area several times. We really loved the location of this rental - 10-15 minutes to town, but still had great views. It is hard driving up the mountain if you aren't used to it.

The rental itself is overall nice. The kitchen is fantastic and updated. Everything else is clean but dated. Nice decorations. Would suggest replacing the couches. Hot water for showers runs out quickly.

Despite my complaints above, we would return in a heartbeat because the cabin is clean, the hot tub is hot, and the views cannot be beat. We had no issues with the rental agency and very much enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for the review and we are glad you had nice stay at Lucky D III. We will make sure the water heaters are working properly, but it is a residential water heater, so there is a limited supply of hot water, but there should be plenty for 4 people to take showers. The view definitely steals the show at this cabin and that's the reason for the wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling windows on the main level. We hope you are able to return soon.

This house is everything you see in the pictures plus more. We stayed the last weekend of skiing at Ober Gatlinburg and you can watch the slopes from the hot tub. Parking could be tricky with a large vehicle but my recommendation is to pack groceries and just stay in this house and enjoy the view!

Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Directions to the house were easy to follow. The house was clean and had just had a kitchen remodel. We experienced one plumbing issue but it was very quickly resolved. We loved the view and will definitely look to come back.

We have stayed at a number of Chalets and loved them all. That being said, you can't beat the view Lucky D III gives you. You don't even have to go outside due to all the windows. Fortunately for us, it snowed and thus creating the perfect setting for what we were hoping for. The place was much larger than we expected and having 2 1/12 bathrooms was great! We will surely be back!

Daniel, you are in for a big surprise the next time you visit Lucky D III. The chalet is closed for renovation and will reopen in February 2021 with an all new kitchen! This cabin has been updated some since last stay there several years ago, but could still use some work. It is comfortable overall. Two toasters, and neither worked. More bath towels should have been furnished since exchange is no longer possible. Still one of the best views of any cabin!

The chalet was very nice. Lots of room, and well equipped kitchen. Loved the master shower too! The view was absolutely breathtaking! Only one small suggestion, the kitchen could use a couple of pot holders. Will definitely go to this chalet again!

Outstanding experience - one of the best vacations we’ve had in a long time. The location was quiet and offered beautiful views. It was very convenient for touring Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and getting into Gatlinburg. We only wish we’d had more time... Be sure you follow the directions provided by the property management - it’s a much easier drive (GPS took us up some very steep slopes and hairpin turns).

we loved the chalet and the location. The view was amazing, especially in the evening looking out from the hot tub. We will be going back. The one wrong was that the stereo did not work. It needs to be replaced

Had a very nice realaxing vacation here. Easy no contact check in and check out. The place was very clean and spacious. Great view of the mountains and ober Gatlinburg. I even was able to watch the 11pm july 4th fireworks. I enjoyed the hottub and the 2 different balconies. Best part about my stay here was seeing bears. Everytime we were eating out on the balcony a bear would show up. Also while grilling a bear showed up. I will definitely be renting this place again for my next vacation there. No more renting hotels while visiting.

Great place. We have stayed here four times. Bears visited us two nights and tried to get into our truck, but thankfully it was locked. We watched them walk down the driveway, into the carport and try to open the doors. It was an interesting site to watch. Great view as well as relaxing. We will be staying there again.

This chalet has the best view of any we have rented. It was nicely furnished and the beds were very comfortable. Even the bed pillows were superior. The only suggestion I have is the kitchen needs a corkscrew. There are plenty of wine glasses and no corkscrew. We had a relaxing restful vacation. Loved Lucky D III.

Thanks for the review. The view from Lucky D III is hard to beat, especially when there are skiers on the ski slopes at Ober Gatlinburg. A corkscrew is an essential! We rent a chalet yearly. This chalet was very nice but could have been updated little more. The chairs on the lower level were cheap plastic that were not sturdy. The view is what makes the chalet. The deck was not clean when we arrived. It had a few candy wrappers on the deck. No big deal but it had cobwebs in most of the corners. Other than those few things we had a great time and will be back.

After seeing photos of this house, I was looking forward to staying here for my vacation and I was not disappointed. The views are amazing and it was nice looking out over Ober Gatlinburg and watching the trams go back and forth. The house is older, but has very comfortable furniture, was in really good condition and was very clean as all of the houses I've rented from Mountain Laurel Chalets have been. I hope to stay here again in the future and I would definitely recommend this house to others.

This was a great chalet. It’s spacious with a huge view. Loved the car port which allows loading and unloading in inclement weather. Needs a few maintenance items repaired but we would not hesitate booking this chalet again.

we have stayed at a lot of chalets in the smokeys. lucky d is at the top of our list. great views, very comfortable layout. upper deck off the main level, & lower deck w/hot tub on lower deck off the bedrooms.
big comfortable beds, & plenty of comfortable furniture in the living room.

This was my second stay at this chalet within the last six months, so yes I do like this chalet, but it does need some attention. Both of our stays we found several light bulbs burned out or even missing. The front door could use new hardware and a few other updates would be nice, but all in all this is a wonderful place to stay and the view of the Ski Resort and the mountains is excellent. I'll stay here again.

We decided at the last minute to take a little weekend away and couldn't be happier with the cabin! Great view, fully stocked, plenty of room, and comfortable beds! We made a fire and just hung around. Our children loved watching the tram and the people at Ober. Our family needed some down time and this cabin was exactly what we needed!

We really enjoyed our stay at Lucky D. The cabin was clean and well appointed with a magnificent view of Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort. We arrived the day after Christmas, and enjoyed the well staged Christmas decorations. The layout of the cabin was perfect and the beds and furniture were most comfortable. We arrived after closing hours and the instructions for late arrivals was a breeze. The entire process took less than a minute.

Mountain Laurel Chalets staff

Have been using MLC for many years, but had never stayed in this home, but had always wanted to. I was not disappointed at all. Loved the location, the view, the carport, and the comfort of this property. I'll use it again and recommend it to anyone. Some of my favorite chalets were lost in the fire, but this one was very nice and very comfortable. Thank you also to MLC for always making me feel welcomed and for your hospitality. Hope to see you again soon.

This is our second time to stay at Lucky D. It has a great view of Ober Gatlinburg and the mountains. The leaves were jus beautiful. One morning when I looked out the back window there was a bear just sitting in the grass below the cabin. He hung around for a coupl if hours. I would definetly recommend this cabin. The staff is always friendly and quick to resolve any issues that you encounter.

Mountain Laurel Chalets was wonderful to work with, start to finish. Their communication with me before and after my reservation was always friendly and helpful, and they were always available during my vacation to answer questions or provide suggestions.

The chalet is perfect - it has beautiful views, and was impeccably clean. I just cannot say enough how special it is - I truly believe it has the best view of any chalet on the mountain.

I highly recommend the Alamo Steakhouse and Bennet's Barbecue; the Laurel Falls hike, any of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Visitor Centers, and ... just sitting on the deck of the Lucky D III, enjoying the peace, serenity, and tranquility.

Beautiful mountain views, hiking, and swimming made this a relaxing vacation. This is my third time renting Lucky D III; obviously I love the chalet! I could sit on the deck all day and look at the beautiful mountain views. Love the new flooring downstairs.
Mountain Laurel staff are the BEST to work with and my Granddaughter loved the stuffed bear (Ralph) that they gave us at check-in.
We also enjoy swimming at the club houses and all their staff are friendly and helpful also.

We loved the views from this cabin. All the windows and glass doors. You could see the mountains, tram,etc. The bedrooms was awesome and comfortable. Loved the master shower. The only down side was no steps to help you get in hot tub, especially short people. Would stay here again. Loved it.

The view from the window in this home is the definition of picture window! You can see Mt. LeConte, Ober Gatlinburg, and the lights of Gatlinburg at night. The home is clean and well kept. The furniture is nice and updated. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Some rooms could benefit from a coat of paint and minor repairs, but that didn't affect my opinion that this is a cozy home. It was a great layout for a family of four with two small children. You can shut the door at the top of the stairs to keep young ones from sneaking downstairs alone.

We had a wonderful week. Beautiful view, wonderful weather and a fantastic chalet to spend time with family. Every morning we awoke to an incredible sunrise coming over Mt. Leconte. We enjoyed watching the trams coming and going from Ober Gatlinburg. We were just far enough away that we could see them but not hear them. The Lucky D is a great place to stay for one or two couples or a small family of four. This was our first time to rent a chalet in about 25 years but we will be coming back!

Love Luvky D III, and have stayed here several times. The view is awesome, including Ober Gatlinburg, and the Tram. Recent updates are kind of retro (great)! Open concept with wall of Windows from living room, dining to kitchen. Miss the indoor whirlpool and hope they bring that back. Will definitely stay again. Mountain Laurel staff and process are wonderful to work with.

The staff at Mt. Laurel Chalet are very nice and easy to work with. The cabin was very nice. It has a great view of Ober and the mountains. The fall colors were beautiful. We have been coming for the last eight years and have used Mt. Laurel on most of our cabin rentals.

We have stayed with mountain laurel chalets in the past for weekend getaways in the past really enjoy the views and also the convenience to Gatlinburg and also pigeon Forge for shopping restaurants and entertainment . And we would highly recommend it to a couples or family and friends just trying to get away for a vacation or a weekend getaway

Went down to see the eclipse, but love staying at this cabin and the one next door, Heaven's View. The new owners of Lucky D lll are embrassing the mid-century modern architecture of this cabin and replacing furniture pieces to match the structure. God bless these!
Always a great stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets, never any problems as we have had with some others. This cabin makes a great base camp for either beauty in The Great Smokies Park or all the fun, food and shopping of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
We were here less than a month after the fires, and were amazed with the progress made since that time. The park and the surroundings showed little damage to nature, everything is "green and growing""."

Things were really nice. Easy check in process. Great location. Enjoyed the stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. Relaxing.
Only issue we had were the carpenter ants. We left a plate and bowl in the sink overnight and the next morning they were everywhere. I guess part of being in the woods.
On a scale of 1 to 5 Probably a 4.5

We loved the chalet, the views are breathtaking. The high mountains, birds, and fireflies at night. If you are lucky you might see a bear right below your balcony. Very clean, spacious, and well maintained. We will be there again in Lucky D III. The only thing to keep in mind is the steep drive to the chalet might become a little intimidating at night.

Great views, awesome layout. Nice updates. Love to rent from Mountain Laurel . New key did not go , management was right out . He told us that he had just refilled hot tub, so wait a couple hours before using. Clean efficient and relaxing. Will definitely be back. Got to see mama bear and two cubs!

My wife and I have stayed at Lucky D III the last 2 summers. The view is breathtaking and the chalet was great. It was clean and comfortable and everything we looked for in a place to get away for a few days. The folks at Mtn. Laurel Chalets were very helpful and made sure we had a great week in Gatlinburg. Lucky D III is an absolutely gorgeous and spacious cabin on the mountain top! The views are incredible and relaxing, the days seemed longer and calmer up there. This is my second time doing business with Mount Laurel Chalets and it was a pleasure! Extremely friendly/knowledgable staff and beautiful cabins to accommodate your stay. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars in some areas was because the cabin was difficult to keep cool and we did find 3 or 4 massive ants here and there but it is an older building and it is not a deal breaker in any way! Other than that, it was clean, well kept, updated and fully stocked with kitchenware, dinnerware, bathroom and linens! Plus the views!

This is my second stay at Lucky D III. I usually enjoy staying at different cabins but my Granddaughter wanted her younger sister to see this chalet. After our stay, I completely agree with her that this is the best chalet!

The updates by the new owner make the chalet more inviting without being too modern. Both decks and furniture are so comfortable and a great place to enjoy the view. The wall of windows allowed us to enjoy the mountains even when we were indoors. It was cool duing our stay so we had the screen doors open, what a treat in June. Love the carport too; it was raining when we arrived so this kept us dry!

We hiked to Grotto Falls (beautiful!), went to the Dixie Stampede, went to Clingman's Dome, rode the Ski Lift, ate at Smokey Mountain Brewery and Pottery House Cafe. Otherwise, we enjoyed the hot tub and chalet!

The folks at Mountain Laurel Chalets are the best. From our late arrival to locking ourselves out of the chalet, they were helpful and kind. I appreciate knowing that their properties are exactly what they advertise and their staff is always professional and helpful. Thank you!

The home was well kept and was satisfied, however my sleeping experience was not satisfying. No air we had to rely on the outdoors and leaving the door open caused a lot of noise and the bedroom door would not latch so we were constantly having to keep something on either side of it to keep from it slamming. Also didn't realize how far up the mountain it was. I didn't much care for that drive. It was a bit scary especially at night and was hard to find the first time.

Our check in was wonderful, we loved the cabin. We're so grateful for the rental company to contact us about the evacuation, we packed up and headed out only to discover it was to late to get off the mountain, fire was already crossing road on Red down. We ran into firefighters trying other road only to be told no way down. We followed Fireman to Ober Gatlinburg and remained in the ice skating rink along with around 20 others for the night. Searc & Rescue got us at 9:30 am. So we lost 2 nights of our stay because of Fire. We hope & pray the Lucky DIII survived the fire. Just a wonderful location.

This place was great. The drive up the mountain is not too bad, but it will take you about 10 mins to get to town. But totally worth it. The cabin was clean and we had plenty of everything. The wall to wall windows are spectacular and we liked how all the bedrooms are downstairs. Hot tub was awesome too. Great location near Ober, too. You can park and walk to all the shops and restaurants. We would stay here again in a minute.

Great mountain view. House was older but very clean. Hot tub needs replaced/upgraded. Multiple jets not working. Cable tv and wifi were enjoyable. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Lucky D III.

I think this was our third or fourth visit to Lucky D lll. This unit and the one next door (Heaven's View) are our very favorite on the mountain. The view is amazing as is the cabin itself. Always clean and well equipped. The layout with the bedroom on the lower lever works very well as the bedrooms/bathrooms are well separated and very private. I was glad to see the new owner is embracing the "mid-century modern"" architecture - would love to see that go further! "

The property was clean and bright, and the layout was perfect for my family (the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, and our 2-year-old had his own room down the hall). The hot tub was a great distraction after a long day of hiking--be forewarned that Rainbow Trail is twice as long as the brochures say it is. Be sure to spend at least 1 morning looking at the sunrise and 1 evening looking at the sunset: it doesn't have to be the same day, but both views are awesome. My family would stay there again and again. The trip up the mountain seems long at first, but it is well worth the trip. Five stars.

We completely enjoyed our stay. Every step of the reservation thru check out process was seamless and stress free. Everything worked. Plenty of dishes, cookware, and silverware. Only thing missing was a pitcher for tea. We would definitely recommend this chalet to friends. And we will make it our first option on our next visit.

I would say our experience overall was good and would consider renting this cabin again. The positives are that the location was great. We loved the view of Ober Gatlinburg! I was surprised how well we could see the skiers and tubers from the cabin. The roads to the cabin were winding but after traveling them once, it wasn't hard to know your way to the cabin. I would recommend not driving a large truck as it is hard to turn around in the driveway. The cabin was clean and we loved the hot tub. The main negative was the outdated furnishings and carpet. It the cabin was updated and the carpet was replaced, this cabin would be perfect. The cabin did have a slight odor because it is older but nothing that we didn't get used to. Overall, I would recommend this cabin if you are okay with the lack of updates.

Home was well cared for, yes it is an older home but it is very obvious that the home has been taken care of. View is wonderful. to those complaints about parking and the roads up to the home....If you have the slightest clue how to drive it is not an issue at all. Staff at check in was very helpful and nice.

The house is exactly as pictured. The home is older but comfortable. The views are so nice throughout the home. Typical mountain drive to the house, but close to all the area attractions. Very nice.

This was our 3rd stay at Lucky D III. We love the layout and the view from this chalet. We also had a visit from one of the local bears every evening. Our favorite restaurants in the area are: Huck Finns, The Diner, and of course Sawyers for Breakfast. We did notice that some of the furniture is beginning to look a little old and tired. But it is still comfortable and functions well. You will not be disappointed with your stay in this chalet or your experience with Mountain Laurel Chalet rentals.

Good experience, except the extra bed was broken...got fixed day 2.( Quick response) Also there was a bush growing up by the driveway that blocked the view of the road. This should come down for safety reasons. Loved the birds and the view. There were a lot of wasps on the front and back corners of the home. The dryer is on its last leg, lots of noise.
