Alpine Getaway

The owners graciously moved us to this cabin after we realized Ski Run View was just too steep for our truck and trailer. The ONLY problem with Alpine Getaway is the carpet because it has that motel smell - like it had been smoked in before and they're trying hard to cover up the lingering odor and we could only get two windows to open. We loved the privacy and the gorgeous views of the fall colors. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was spotless and well stocked. This is also a great place to stay if you don't like the narrow roads and steep driveways in other locations. It is not too far off the main road. We will book this one again, even if the carpet isn't replaced since the location is perfect for us, but I am really hoping they take out the carpet!

I've stayed with Mtn Laurel probably 20+ times over the past 15 years and I'll never stay elsewhere. Although this chalet is outdated a bit, it accommodated all of our needs, was clean, jacuzzi clean and working well, kitchen stocked well, the whole 9. When you're in there standing in the living room looking at the 2 bedrooms, the right bed is springs and the left bed is a memory foam style. Since there was only 1 couple of us, we slept in both and preferred the memory foam but that bathroom on that side has a shower head that halfway works and needs switched out. All in all, chalet is a 3 but Mtn Laurel and their guest services and friendliness is always a 5. Will be back soon!!

Enjoyed the cabin and all its facilities(except the pool table upstairs). The furniture and accessories are outdated but functional. The vinyl living room furniture was uncomfortable but clean. The smart TV's were an added bonus and all appliances etc worked well. It does need updating especially the carpet and the deck.The parking spot was easy compared to some of the cabins' steep driveways. Also the winding stairs to the second level are very tricky to navigate.

We wanted an out of the way place and this was it! The drive up the mountain was steep-you just had to be careful. It was very nice to come back to -quiet! We really enjoyed the hot tub! The one bathroom's shower head needs cleaned or changed out. Overall a great place to stay!

For the most part we very much enjoyed our stay at this little cabin. It was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The downside was that it was one of the older cabins it seemed. The carpeting throughout had a few stains and was buckling in a couple of places. We were not too crazy about the deck because the woods and trees were right up on the deck and the deck was very low to the ground so in the evenings we did not feel really safe sitting outside. I feel the trees and wooded area needed to be slightly trimmed back away from the deck area

All was great with the exception of a malfunctioning light in the bathroom, trash clean up needed behind the cabin (bear safety), and needing cue chalk for table.

The inside was clean and laid out nicely. Kitchen was well stocked with needed items. Bed was comfortable. It was a wonderful trip. Nice care package upon arrival was a sweet gesture. Thank you for letting us stay!

Great place. Plenty of room for the two of us (plenty of room for four, actually), clean, well appointed, and quiet. Ample parking area and easiest access to street that you'll find in this area. And, since it's on the upper limits of the mountain, the traffic passing by is minimal. Only a couple of minor issues: the hot tub was more of a "warm"" tub (someone needs to adjust the thermostat) and there was only a small waste basket for the kitchen (a $4 fix). We'll definitely be using this cabin again."

The cottage was nice but it has a strong musty smell. The windows needed to be cleaned also but overall it met all of our needs. Would we stay again in Alpine Getaway? Probably not. Other cabins that Mountain Laurel Chalets offered were nicer but we didn’t book far enough in advance. That’s the key.

Thanks for your comments on Alpine Getaway. We will assess the musty smell and find a resolution. The windows you mentioned are fogged, so not necessarily dirty. We will let the homeowner know they need to be replaced. We hope you will come back to stay with us again in a different chalet.

First impression was great, lights were left on for us so we didn't walk into a dark unknown place. The place was beautifully decorated, king size beds in both rooms plus room for more to sleep if needed on couches or room for an air bed if you bring one. One thing to beware of is the circle stairs if you have a little one running around. It's definitely high in the mountains, which didn't bother us but does take time getting to and from Gatlinburg. The only downside was the hot tub jets only worked on one side so I'd let them know so they can fix it.

The place was a perfect retreat for our family of 4. There was a pool table in the loft that was used daily. We made use of the charcoal grill and the hot tub on the back deck. The view is a wooded one. The kitchen has all of the basics and you can eat inside or outside. We cooked a lot and Food City, Kroger and Publix are the grocery stores to shop at. The Walmart was just too crowded and was out of everything. We saw several bears and one kept getting into the trash. One day they opened the cage pulled out the trash cans and carried one into the woods! My son found it the next day. Once we were used to the mountain roads, getting to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge was easy. After a day at Dollywood we ordered a pizza from Ski Mountain Pizza, would definitely recommend. The only complaint I have is that the dishwasher didn't work and the week went too fast!

Thanks for your review. Please follow the instructions in the bear proof trash container and secure the container so that the bears do not get trash as that is a quick way to create dependency on humans for food and the bears have plenty of their own food in the wold to eat. This home served its purpose for a weekend birthday getaway. However, for the price of the property and the $200 cleaning cost, it was a bit disappointing. A couple things in the house were broken and trash was littered all over the yard. There was still dust all over, and on some surfaces, it was the greasy dust. The view was gorgeous, however. The ride into town, short.

Thanks for the review and we appreciate your comments. I assume you are referring to the futon bed in the loft as being broken. A new replacement arrived just this week and will delivered to the house as soon as possible. The trash in the yard is courtesy of the bear population getting into trash bins that are overstuffed, or worse, left unlocked. We encourage our guests to properly store trash in the bear proof bins, but everybody has to do their part to prevent this from happening. Housekeeping has been sent back to check for dust and we thank you for the heads up. Please let us know if you have issues with housekeeping or maintenance when you stay with us so we have the opportunity to make things right. We look forward to hearing from you again soon.

I loved everything about the cabins I stayed in. It was in a great location. It was my first time in the cabins and I had a great experience. The only issue I had was that on the description about the cabin it said 2 hot tubs in the bathrooms and neither room had one. But other than that it was so great. I’m coming back . See you soon

Each has a tub/shower unit (as pictured), but there is no hot tub inside the house. The hot tub is outside on the deck and there is only one. We enjoyed our stay at Alpine Getaway. It’s a nice, quiet location, but the drive up is a little scary with steep, curvy roads. It does get better the more you drive it though! Bathrooms, kitchen, and beds were all very clean, but I do think the home overall could use a more thorough cleaning and updating as well- some of the furniture was very worn as was the carpet. We were very happy overall with our stay and would stay here again.

We had a fantastic time. Everything with the rental was great and working. The only negative was that it smelled like cigarette smoke. My family and I do not smoke and I am very sensitive to the smell. So that was not very pleasant. Other than that it was a great place with everything that you could possibly need.

The roads can be a bit scary if you are not used to driving in the mountains, but they are two lane and paved right to the parking area at Alpine Getaway. over all was good, although the carpet needs to be tacked down better, it needs a gate on the back deck the bears were walking up freely, needs to have an awning or umbrella for shade and the meatal chairs were very hot in the sun, the refrigerator needs to be updated drawers not working and had a problem with all of our food freezing which the company promptly fixed. and could use a small tv in the second room

Thanks for the review and all the great suggestions. Sorry to say, but a gate will not stop the bears from coming up on the deck. They have been know to scale 4" x 4" two story wooden posts, so a near-ground level deck is a cake walk. The anticipation of their presence just adds to the mystic of the forest, just make sure and leave the doors to get inside unlocked! Hope to have you in the mountains again soon!

The check in/out was extremely easy! The chalet itself was perfect for our family!! Both bedrooms on 1 level was just what we needed. Overall the chalet was great! Maybe a little more time could have been spent cleaning off the patio. Other than that it was a great chalet. Would recommend!

We stayed four nights and saw bears most every day. we picked this cabin for the fireplace however there was a burn ban in place so we did get to use. That was a bummer! The cabin was quiet and enjoyable.

I normally grab a chalet with a Mountain View but this time was a last minute thing and this was the only one available for my dates. As with every cabin I have stayed at with mountain laurel, I was super pleased with it. Very clean and well kept. Nice little get away spot. We had more than enough room for 4 people and a toddler.

The rental was very clean and comfortable. The front desk folks were very helpful and accommodating. The fireplace smoked a little but it was not a problem. Very nice setting and felt very private.

A very nice quiet and relaxing place to stay. The view is probably better here after the leaves fall. Furnishings were a little dated, except the kitchen, which had a nice appliance upgrade. Access to the property was easy, as we had someone needing to avoid stairs, except for the loft. A little more storage in one bath and firmer beds would be a great improvement.

We had an excellent experience with Mountain Laurel rentals. The online home description and pictures were accurate and the reservation procedure went smoothly. The home was clean, well furnished, and ready when we arrived. We enjoyed everything except the very curvy, treacherous road to the home. Although only a few miles from town, the drive took much longer than expected.

We have stayed with Mountain Laurel Chalets many, many times over the past 25-30 years and have never been dissatisfied. Even when problems arose, the staff responded immediately. They are professional, yes, but we are always treated like we are members of a family.
This stay was like all others, a wonderful time in a lovely, clean house. In fact, our grandson decided that he is going to live there when he grows up!

My wife and I were going through some really hard times so at the last minute our son decided we needed a getaway This was perfect We loved the location The house was so cozy We loved the beds and fireplace We took our 6 year old granddaughter who loved the hot tub It snowed which was perfect We usually come to the mountains in the fall We loved the beautiful snowfall after my husband discovered the roads we were on was always cleaned my granddaughter loved the pool table she was actually quite good her grandmother and she didn’t want to go home We have stayed with Mt Laurel before and are always happy with them can’t wait t to come again

Everything was clean. It was great that it had easy access-no steps to main living area. The steps to pool table were kind of hard to maneuver. It was cool when we were grilling on deck a bear came right up to the deck to check it out. We didn't check temp of fridge when we put our food in there and everything froze! A lot of food was ruined.

Great Smoky Mt. getaway. Chalet was easy to get to not to many steep curves or turns. Game room has pool table in loft. Easy to get to National Park, downtown in two different location and can access the bypass easy. North Baden Clubhouse has a very large pool air condition game room work out area. Mountain Laurel Chalets easy company to work with. Would recommend this chalet (has a forest view) and company very helpful and easy to work with.

Two couples shared this nice house. A great space to relax in after a morning of ziplining! The guys played pool in the loft. We enjoyed burgers on the charcoal grill. Just perfect! We even saw a mama bear and 2 cubs on the way home one day.

Spent Memorial Day weekend. I love booking MLC cabins! This cabin is so nice! Upscale decor and furniture with soft leather sofas. Nice kitchen and roomy, comfortable bedrooms. Hot tub was perfect. I can't say enough about this cabin and the always friendly staff! Can't believe the low price for this place! Exceeded our expectations!!

From the minute we pulled up to Alpine Getaway it felt like we were arriving home. Everything we needed was there and easy to find. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable and we settled right in. Even arriving late, after the office closed, the directions provided got us there without a hitch. My teenage grandson loved the pool table, and we spent hours playing each night. In fact, he never even turned on the tv! I loved how accessible it is - easy drive, level parking, and just a few steps to the door. The spiral staircase to the pool table worried me at first, but even it wasn't bad since I only went up and down once each evening. I would say we would stay here next time, but there are several other properties we want to visit too!

My husband and I wanted to take my mother for her 92nd birthday for her first ever trip to the Smokies; also we were celebrating my 12 year old daughter's birthday. It was imperative that we find a chalet that would accommodate Mother (minimal stairs, easy access to living and kitchen areas, room for her walker, etc.) Alpine Getaway provided easy entry, everything arranged on one level, spacious deck, large rooms with easy access to everything. My daughter especially had asked for a hot tub and a pool table,and my husband had to have a deck with a grill and a view--- so AG was a perfect fit for us. We are a cooking family and I wanted to take the kitchen home with me! We enjoyed being near all the things we had on our list...Aquarium, Titanic, Apple Valley, Deer Farm, Cade's Cove, Cherokee, great shopping, and Pancake Pantry. You can trust Mountain Laurel to provide you with the perfect vacation rental and go above and beyond to make your stay all that you hoped for.

After the fire we considered not coming but decided that if we were going to spend some money somewhere, why not our favorite vacation spot? We had a wonderful time. The overall stay was nice; things that I found wrong with it are pretty nit-picky, and in no way did they ruin our trip. Beds were comfortable, though they are described as King and I am pretty sure they're Queens. The property is very high up on the mountain, so if you do not want to be on a winding mountain road for 10-15 minutes coming and going, I would suggest looking for a property lower on the mountain. Pool table upstairs was nice; as the pictures show there is a winding staircase...again, no problem unless you have trouble getting up/down narrow steps. We had plenty of clean rags and towels for everyone. There were enough dishes to cook most things, although one night we planned to have spaghetti and did not have a pot big enough. All noticeable things were clean, there were a couple things we noticed (some things were dusty and there was an area that had not been vacuumed). There was a market nearby that would delivery grocery items as well as pizza, burgers, salads, and a few other things. They people working there were very nice, we stopped in every day for something, and had the pizza (which was tasty!) delivered once. Very convenient! All in all, nice place that served our needs while we were there.

Overall our opinion of Alpine Getaway is good. If we could give it 3.5 stars we would. Three stars doesn't seem to be enough but four stars is too many. The pros to this chalet are: the beds were very comfortable, it was very clean, the WiFi worked great and the location to the city was perfect (ten minutes tops.) Cleanliness and being comfortable are the most important things to us and while the beds were very comfy, the couches left much to be desired. After a long day of hiking or walking the city, one wants to be able to come back and relax on a comfortable couch to chill. We liked the fact the couches were leather but they were very worn to where we were sinking in too much and when two were sitting, we would slide toward the middle. Maybe cushion savers would help if not able to replace all together. Kitchen definitely needs some updates. Very old appliances to where some of our food froze up in the fridge and the oven door handle came right off when my son opened it. The fan didn't work properly either. The kitchen was amply supplied with everything we needed but it was just difficult cooking on an old appliance especially with pots and pans being a little worn out as well. The pool table and hot tub were nice features we took advantage of. We would definitely rent through Mountain Laurel Chalets again but will choose a different chalet in the future unless of course some updates were made to Alpine Getaway. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the Mountains and Alpine Getaway has the potential to be a spectacular place to stay once a few updates are made.

Laurel Chalet leave discount sheets & explanation inside the late arrival envelopes, especially during the holiday season when office hours are shortened. We missed them on Christmas Eve and didn't find out about the 10% discounts until after we'd already been shopping for several days. Chalet itself could use some newer locks and more modern amenities. TV in MBR would be better if it had current gaming system outputs (HDMI).

All we really wanted to do was enjoy some quiet and privacy. This was a good place for that. We could only barely see a couple of other cabins in the distance. There was a good bit of travel and headlights going by the front. Very interesting layout and lots of windows but lighting was poor. The outside of the cabin could use some attention.

Alpine Getaway is a wonderful chalet. It is beautiful inside and out. It was only my husband and I but this house would be perfect for 4. We played pool and enjoyed the great hot tub. Cooked beautiful steaks on the grill and enjoyed the calmness of the deck. We will definitely come back to this chalet. thanks

The house looks just like the picture. Very clean and nice. The view was blocked cause the trees were in full bloom but we had privacy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. in the previous review someone mentioned the wood around the hot tub and was correct but that did not hurt a thing. Only the looks. The Mtn Laurel team was very good with the overall rental process. We exchanged several emails before completing the rental and they answered all our questions. We had a few miscommunications with some of the specials that were advertised. Ended up not being able to get any of the discounts for one reason or another. Overall experience was good, but the property needs some attention. The deck needs to be replaced, as well as, the hot tub framing. Fireplace appears to be falling apart, with mortar missing and rotten boards meeting the fireplace outside. Inside needs to be updated and an additional tv added to other bedroom. All rooms could use a ceiling fan. There was a distinct odor of some kind throughout the house. Was musty smelling or like a chemical of some kind. Possibly bug spray? Would not recommend to physically challenged guests or the elderly.

We stayed 3 nights. It's in the mountain. Very quite and well equiped place. You can feerl nature in front of you. Even a baby bear climbed our deck. Thankfully, no accident. It was fun experience.

Nice cabin, good location, beds comfy. We had a nice stay at Alpine getaway. The house could use some TLC: rotten wood on the hot tub, bent up gutters, deck in so-so condition, old appliances, but nothing that would distract from a good vacation.

We enjoyed our stay in the Alpine Getaway. The house was nice and if the trees had any leaves yet it would have been secluded and even more private. Only Minutes DOWN the winding roads to either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We really enjoyed ourselves, BUT, this was our first trip with our nearly 1 year old, so it wasn't very relaxing. I would recommend the cabin and would visit again.
