the cabin kitchen blinds and refrig were dirty. the master bedroom looked as if it had not been cleaned under the bed all year. the 2nd bathroom had hair in the sink and on the wall.

The cabin is showing it's age but it was clean. The property mgmt staff were great. We exchanged towels on day three with no problem. The upstairs shower where the king size bed is located is extremely small and you have to keep the upstairs bedroom door closed and the ceiling fan on high inorder to cool it off in the summer. The bed was comfortable. When at the cabin we spent most of our time on the deck, nice chairs and view. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. Keep your doors locked on your vehicle. We didn't have any food inside but went to the grocery store on day one. A bear must have been able to smell the groceries from earlier that day. We had bear paw prints on the windows and doors from it trying to get inside but no damage to the outside of our truck. They never returned after day one that we know of. Over all we enjoyed the cabin and don't have any complaints. It rained several times but there's enough roof over hang allowing us to sit outside and watch it rain. Note: The cabin needs a toaster.

A last minute change of plans the week before our planned July 4th vacation, led us to start looking for a place to stay in the mountains. I did not have hope that we would find availability with all the options we desired. This cabin did a pretty great job.

It is not the newest cabin on the mountain but it was clean, private, charming and has a great deck with a view. We spent many hours outside enjoying coffee in the mornings, naps in the afternoon and stargazing at night.

Again nothing fancy, but super great for the price.

We arrived Friday night and found the cabin relatively easy. Upon entering the cabin we noticed both beds hadn’t been stripped and made and there were dirty towels in both bathrooms. Called the after hours number and the person I spoke with was very nice and got someone out right away to fix the issue. Other than that the cabin was excellent. Our first morning there we had a bear cub on our deck and got great photos. It’s a beautiful place and located in an excellent location. Would definitely stay again.

A few minor things but nothing that cannot be resolved with some minor repairs. The ceiling fan in the top level bedroom was unbalanced and seemed like it could fall out of the ceiling. Lights in the hot tub did not work. Hot water did not last very long and was not able to fill above jacuzzi tub jets without waiting for the water to heat back up

Above Laurelwood was fantastic for our group of 4. The view is absolutely beautiful!! As noted in other reviews, there were very minor "cosmetic" issues(overhead den and hot tub lights didn't work) but that did not distract from the bigger picture- the PHENOMENAL views and our overall FABULOUS experience. You can see the tram going up and down the mountain from the huge covered balcony as well as from the hot tub. Pam in the rental office is great to work with!! This is our second stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets and will ONLY book cabins through them in the future.

We have visited many times over the last 8 years. Grandkids getaway, couples getaway, guys weekends. Above The Laurel Wood fits for all We are hikers and spend most of the day out on the trail. This cabin is great to come back to at the end of the day. Great view Beds and appliances seemed new.

We enjoyed the cabin experience however a pre check should be done prior to the arrival. We were out of propane and missing ceiling lights in the living room. Put a strip gauge on the tank so that maintenance personnel can determine when to refill the tank. Finally, have someone do a quality control check to ensure that everything is working properly.

This property is fine. The view is beautiful. What you pay is all about view and location. When you stay there you can read all the positive experiences and reviews people leave in the book they have where leave your note. I was concerned about the online reviews. This vacation property is in working condition and we had a fun stay.

Great cabin! A little worn but nothing outrageous. Really needs new coffee maker, dishwasher tray (wheels missing), and other little details like that. It’s an expensive rental, so why not reinvest a little of that
money to fix the appliances?

Too many broken things for the amount that was charged. Both lamps in upstairs bedroom broke. Coffee pot lid broke, the living room chest with games lid was broke, the upstairs shower head was coming out of the wall. The hot tub had such a strong chemical smell we did not even get in it. The sidewalk as you first enter needs to be smoothed out before someone trips over it. The view was beautiful. This property needs a good makeover in order to charge 179.00 a night

Mary, thank you for the review and we are sorry if you were inconvenienced by the things you mentioned. Most of those things could have easily been addressed by our maintenance team. Please allow us the opportunity to make things the best they can be by reporting issues to the office while you are here. The homeowner was here after your stay and has already replaced both mattresses and ordered new living room furniture. We are looking for a solution for the small shower upstairs and hope to expand it when the rentals slow down. We hope you will visit us again and see these changes for yourself or stay in another property with us. We appreciate your feeback.

We stayed in this cabin around 10 years ago. It must have been turned over to a different owner. The deck and outside of doors should be touched up. The ice maker doesn't work. I should of read all reviews before renting. One review talked about the uncomfortable bed upstairs. It is still very uncomfortable and the downstairs bed made a sound like popping the bubble packaging. The TV in the downstairs didn't work. They should of left instructions in the book on how to change over to the DVD player. Pam in the office came through sending the maintenance man up with a better shower rod. The other would fall down. I'm sure some more would of gotten fixed if I told office . They are all very helpful.

We could not find a problem with the icemaker, so not sure what happened there. The TV in the downstairs bedroom had dead batteries in the remote, so that was an easy fix. I would encourage you to reach out to us while you are here so our maintenance team could help you with anything that is not working as it should. We hope you will consider giving us a call the next time you visit the Smokies. We would love to have another opportunity to serve you. This was out second stay at Above Laurelwood. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Everything was clean and it made us feel at home. My only complaint was the outside light on the house, roadside shined in the upper bedroom window and made it a little difficult to get to sleep.

The amenities for the location were very nice with the pool table and hot tub. The view was very good also. We enjoyed using the grill and appreciated the hdmi cable available for our use. This cabin was the right size for 4 people, but the upstairs shower was very cramped and uncomfortable to use. Also the street light outside the upstairs bedroom was a distraction when sleeping. The blinds did not keep the light out, but some thick curtains would make sleeping better.

Great cabin and amenities! Only issue at all is the king bed in the upstairs room was harder than the floor... perhaps the owner prefers a very firm mattress. Didn’t complain because figure it was owners preference. We went to Walmart and purchased a mattress topper to give us some comfort.. it was still very firm! That’s how hard that bed was. That was our ONLY issue. Everything else was PERFECT! Pool table, hot tub, view, comfortable cabin. Staff was very friendly with all our interaction. Oh and they provided 12 towels but only 4 bath cloths .. said covid restrictions... doesn’t make sense but whatever good thing I read the email and packed extra bath cloths. They said cabin for 4 so they provided 4 towels for jacuzzi, 4 hot tub, 4 bath towels but only 4 bath cloths. At that point what was the point? Why not provide 4-8 more bath cloths?! 12 towels and 4 bath cloths was what we were given.. If I hadn’t of packed extra, we would have been forced to do laundry daily just for bath cloths. That didn’t make sense to me how that was helping with covid restrictions but whatever. Everything else was perfect except for EXTREMELY HARD BED and the bath cloth situation. I can’t imagine anyone choosing to sleep on a bed harder than the floor. We had no choice but to buy the mattress topper then we just brought it home with us for a spare.

Thanks for writing a review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Above Laurelwood. It is hard to find a mattress that everyone agrees on. The homeowner will be staying there soon, so we will ask her to check on the upstairs mattress. The housekeepers set the house up with 2 bath towels and 2 wash clothes on each bed and one bath mat and one hand towel in each bathroom. There should have been 2 towels for the whirlpool and 2 for the hot tub, so you actually had more bath towels than is normally left at setup. We are sorry if the lack of extra wash cloths inconvenienced you. If you ever have an issue like this, or any maintenance items, please contact the office and they will be happy to help. We hope to see you in the mountains again soon. UPDATE MAY 27 - New mattresses were delivered to the property today!

This wasn't our first stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets, but it was our first stay at Above Laurelwood. Loved it. We saw a bear within 2 hours of our arrival. We spent a fair amount of time on the wrap around deck which had some awesome views of the tram and the mountains. The family felt right at home.

The property was dated and we will not stay here again, although we will look at other properties they own. The gate on the wraparound porch needs replaced as bears were present. Parking was a challenge. The upstairs ceiling fan was tiny and the room was always hot. The electronics need updated. Some areas had not been cleaned for some time given the dust.

Loved the 1st floor bedroom and covered porch-enjoyed even our day of rain. Had mama bear and 3 cubs come up right by cabin and went across road and up trees to shake them the next day- Have stayed with Mt Laurel for many years-always helpful.

We celebrated our anniversary here. The cabin was so great that we didn't even get out to do much. We stayed mostly at the cabin and played pool, used the hot tub and just relaxed on the front balcony. It was the relaxing mini vacay that we needed!

Our first day there was an eye opener as when we checked in they told us bear activity was high and not to leave the car unlocked and we didnt but i did leave one window down about six inches and we did wind up with a bear in our car. Seen alot of other bears while there just have to be careful.Beautiful cabin, beautiful views, it was a great pleasure staying here and miss it already!

The cabin has a great view! The kitchen and family room is nice and comfortable. The pool table and hot tub worked nicely. The main floor bedroom with the jacuzzi was wonderful. The upstairs bedroom was nice, the mattress was hard but comfortable. The bathroom upstairs needs some work, the shower should be removed, there's not much room in it. The first floor bathroom is nicely remodeled, however the hot and cold water have been switched, it's a little tricky to figure out. However with the little issues we had we still enjoyed our stay and would reccomend this cabin.

Thanks for the comments. Being an A-frame does make it a little tight in the upstairs shower. We have extended the shower head up so there is a little more head room in the shower stall. Every house has it's own personality and Above Laurelwood is no exception. Come see us again.

Enjoyed staying at Above Laurelwood. It is one of our favorites and we have stayed in a lot of them. Not fond of the driveway, but you have to accept them because you are in the mountains.

View was of La Conte but a bit obstructed.Would have prefered a higher eleavtion,but was a late notice to find a Chalet this one was plenty good!! The MT.Laurel Staff has always been fair with Me for the last 40 plus Years I will alway use Them!! Deer View and Suit 2 and La Conte vista are My favorites.jdm

A lovely stay at the comfortable and rustic cabin on Ski Mountain. Fun view of the tram! For us, we liked being close enough to town but removed from the hustle and bustle. Amenities such as the pool table, hot tub, and fire place provided entertainment; washer & dryer was another nice feature. Couple of maintenance issues for the upstairs only (ie. broken threshold to bedroom, dangerous nails astray on trimwork). Wonderful stay overall!

The cabin is the perfect size for a family of 4. It does need some updates. The shower upstairs needs and new shower head and the downstairs shower hot and cold water is reversed. Thanks for the nice comments and you will be happy to know we have extended the showerhead upward to give more headroom in the upstairs shower. The chalet definitely has it's own personality that takes a minute to get used to. Hope to see you again soon.

The cabin is the perfect size for a family of 4. It does need some updates. The shower upstairs needs and new shower head and the downstairs shower hot and cold water is reversed. We enjoyed our stay at Above Laurelwood very much. The cabin is beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly, we didn't have any issues. It was actually to cold for us to get in the outside hot tub so we tried the jetted bathtub inside but couldn't get the jets to come on. I told the staff when we checked out that it didn't work and she mentioned a timer on the wall so it could have just been us that couldn't get it to work. Otherwise it was a great great stay. The view from the balcony is beautiful.

Loved the location and view. Enjoyed the rustic cabin d??cor and the wood burning fireplace. Got to see 3 bears climbing way up the trees to eat. Really enjoyed our stay and as always Mountain Laurel took great care of any needs we had. The only negative of the chalet was the upstairs bathroom, which has a very tiny shower. Be careful to not drop your soap. :)

The property was better than I imagined it would be, The management company was polite and friendly. The view from the deck was out of this world beautiful! The house was clean with plenty of linens for our four day stay. The only difficulties we had were the exhaust for the stove did not work and getting in the driveway was a challenge. LOL, heed the warnings of keeping your car doors locked! Yes. we forgot one night and a bear broke into the car, fortunately he only left muddy foot prints on the seats and did no other damage, he was polite enough to not even scratch the paint on the car door. Hmm, maybe they can be "trained" to close the car door when they are done exploring it ;-). The hot tub was great, the jet bath tub was great, over all I would recommend this house and management company to anyone.

I brought my family here for a Spring Break vacation. Wow, what an experience. It is exactly how it appears. The chalet was clean and well cared for. The mountain view was gorgeous. My wife and me loved to sit on the front porch, enjoy the view, and drink our coffee in the morning. I would highly recommend Mtn Laurel Chalet and this cabin to anyone looking for a nice getaway. We will be back.

We have stayed with Mountain Laurel Chalets for over two decades now. This was our first stay in the Above Laurelwood chalet and we definitely plan to come back! The view was spectacular and the easily accessible driveway was a relief. This chalet has the perfect rustic charm you'd expect in the mountains with the convenience of modern updates. Our only wish for improvement would be the bed on the main level, it wasn't too comfortable. Even so, we would reserve this chalet again.

Beautiful view. Peaceful, quiet. Didn't understand why the cabin had a no-grilling ordinance, especially since ALL the neighboring cabins/homes had permanent fixture outdoor grills. Purchased one at Walmart and grilled anyway.

It was our first time going to Tennessee and I can say that we really enjoy our time there. The cabin was BEAUTIFUL. Every detail in the rooms was amazing. The view was breathe taking. Although, it didn't snow we had a great time. I really recommend this company. I want to thank my friend Vivian Dechard for the recommendation. Looking for to next year!!!!

Above Laurelwood was very nice. My family and I had a great time during our stay. The mattress in the upstairs bedroom was a little hard and the mattress in the downstairs was a bit too soft but other than that everything was great. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you would need and the appliances were nice. We also loved that it was decorated for Christmas. The location of the cabin albeit beautiful once you got there was a bit tricky at times due to the rain and wet leaves. The office staff were very nice. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend it.

My wife and my sister in law loved Above Laurelwood. We got to see our first black bear who tried to find food. The tram view was outstanding. The view was breathtaking. All in all very satisfied with our visit.

The cabin was awesome, very clean and a great view. Our children loved staying in this cabin, partly due to seeing the tram pass by throughout the day. We also saw a mother bear and her cubs walking down the road a couple of times. The only downside was the upstairs bed; it felt like we were sleeping on a concrete slab. Overall I would recommend
Above Laurelwood; the staff was great, especially accommodating our unexpected late arrival.

This cabin is more rustic than most of the chalets around it, which we loved. This is the second time to rent this cabin. We really love the layout. Only negative is the first floor bed is really noisy. It needs new box spring. Everything else was great.

I am a caregiver for my brother who is terminally ill & Vickie Lauderdale had just lost her husband so we wanted a place with privacy and a fantastic view. I've stayed with you so I knew the quality of your rentals, we spent all our time ordering takeout and eating. One of the best times I've had, clean, easy access and it is like staying in a treehouse with the back deck so high and a view like heaven.

We stay in the Smokies every year, and until this year, stayed with the same company for the last 10+ years. Not anymore! We booked "Above Laurelwood" for 2 nights and have never been so impressed with a cabin, it's views and the company (Mt Laurel Chalets). The pictures do not do the balcony justice! Amazing. Far exceeded our expectations! The cabin was clean and lacked nothing as far as equipment and basic needs. The available clubhouses/pools were a very nice bonus.
We will be staying with Mt. Laurel Chalets (and Above Laurelwood) from now on!

This was the perfect cabin for a long weekend in the Smokies. Great Views!!
Kitchen was adequate for several eat in meals. Bed was comfortable. Plenty
of towells and extra's for the hot tub. Hot tub was clean and in good working
order, partially private from view of neighboring cabin. Our only minor complaints are that the cabin was dusty and webby on our arrival and there is
no approved outside grill (and we love to grill out on vacation). While internet was provided, it was not recognized by our apple products ( ipad and iphone).

My husband decided to vacation in the Smokies to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. After searching through tons of cabins/chalets. We settled on this one. The reasons included the wonderful view, hot tub, Jacuzzi tub, and pool table. We loved every second of our stay! It was fairly easy to find and not too high up crazy winding roads. The only negative I have to mention is that we found a few cockroaches in the kitchen. The downstairs bed was absolutely so comfortable we never even slept on the upstairs king size bed.

The only problem we had was that on line, it stated that there was a wood burning fireplace. There was one, however due to city ordaniates, we couldn't burn until Oct. NO WHERE on the web site did it annoucne that fact. So we were disappointed in that as the night s were cool. No grill s allowed was another down fall. Other than that, great !
