There's a moment that happens to nearly every guest who stays with us. It goes like this: you arrive in the evening, you're tired from the drive, you unlock the door — and then you step out onto the deck.
The mountains are right there. Not in the distance. Right there. Mt. LeConte rising 6,593 feet directly in front of you, the ridgeline catching the last light of the day, the whole valley quiet below. And something in you goes still.
That's the moment we've been setting up for more than 50 years. If you're looking for Gatlinburg cabins with mountain views, you've come to the right place — and we're going to help you find exactly the right one.

Why the Views from Our Gatlinburg Cabins Are Unlike Anything Else
Here's something most visitors don't realize until they're standing on their deck: Mt. LeConte isn't just a pretty mountain in the background. It's the tallest mountain in the eastern United States from base to summit — rising over 5,300 feet from the valley floor near Gatlinburg straight up to its 6,593-foot peak. Nothing east of the Rockies compares to that vertical drama.
And the Mountain Laurel Chalets properties that face it? They sit on private, elevated lots on the mountain above Gatlinburg, most of them up Ski Mountain Road and Wiley Oakleyt — high enough to look directly across at LeConte, with nothing in the way.
Guests describe it differently. Some say it feels like the mountain is watching over them. Some say they didn't realize how small their worries were until they sat on the deck at 6 a.m. with a coffee and watched the sun come up over the ridge. One guest who visited us during one of the hardest seasons of her life said something we've never forgotten: "I just needed to see the mountains one more time." And the mountains delivered.
That's what views like these do. They have a way of rearranging your priorities.
We manage over 95 cabins and chalets in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and many of them offer stunning mountain scenery — but a handful are in a class of their own when it comes to views. Here are a few worth knowing about.
Laurel Hideaway — Small Cabin, Enormous Views
Perfect for couples, Laurel Hideaway sits atop Ski Mountain and delivers year-round views of Mt. LeConte from every angle — including those larger windows added in a recent renovation specifically to let more of the mountain inside. This one is designed to make two people feel like the mountains belong to them alone for the week.
Nestled Inn —
When the View Is Just the Beginning
Perched atop Wiley Oakley Drive this cabin has unending views of Mt. LeConte, combined with landmark scenery with brand-new custom construction, luxury linens, and details that go well beyond the basics. If you want a Smoky Mountain cabin rental where the view is framed by a beautifully appointed space, Nestled Inn is where to look.
Mountain View—
180 Degrees of Mt LeConte
This one delivers what it promises: an unobstructed, 180-degree panorama of Mt. LeConte and the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, all from a spacious deck that guests never seem to want to leave. Guests who've visited Gatlinburg for 25 years tell us this one has the best view they've ever seen.
Privacy, Elevation, and an A-Frame Classic
A traditional A-frame chalet on a large, private lot that gives you the deep-in-the-woods feeling while still treating you to year-round mountain views and a hot tub with a view of Mt. LeConte that our own team describes as hard to beat.
Privacy, Elevation, and an A-Frame Classic
This 5 bedroom brings the views and then some. The main deck looks directly out at Mt. LeConte and then surrounding mountains, ad the lower deck, home to the large hot tub and porch swings shares the same spectacular outlook--the kind of sunrise views that makes a group trip feel like something everyone will be talking about for years.
Not all "mountain view" cabins are created equal. Here's what we'd tell a friend to look for:
Elevation matters more than distance. A cabin that sits high on the mountain with an unobstructed sightline to the ridge will always beat a lower-elevation property with trees in the way. Our Ski Mountain Road and Wiley Oakley properties are situated for exactly this reason.
East-facing decks for sunrise, west-facing for sunset. When you're browsing, it's worth asking which direction the main deck faces. Mt. LeConte catches the sunrise from the east in spectacular fashion. If you're a sunrise person, plan accordingly.
Seclusion and access aren't opposites. One of the great things about the Mountain Laurel Chalets properties is that "private, wooded lot with mountain views" doesn't mean "an hour from everything." Most of our view cabins are five to fifteen minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, Ober Mountain, and the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You get the stillness of the mountain and the convenience of the town.

Some things can't be fully described. The way Mt. LeConte looks at first light, the way the mist moves through the valley on a cool morning, the particular quiet of a Smoky Mountain evening from a private deck — words only get you so far.
We've been welcoming families to these mountains since 1972, and after more than five decades, we still believe the best thing we can do is get you up here and let the mountains do the rest.
