SMOKY MOUNTAIN TROUT TOURNAMENT

Calling all fishermen!

Get your fishing gear ready because in April, the Smoky Mountain Spring Trout Tournament comes to Gatlinburg. This event is known as the largest trout tournament in the Smokies, and is held twice a year (spring and fall).

Whether you’re a local or tourist to Gatlinburg this event is open to anyone looking to catch some trout. Doesn’t matter the age or skill-level as long as you have a fishing pole and some bait, you’re welcomed in the competition. Of course there are important rules and regulations you have to be aware of in order to participate. All of which can be found here.

Prior to the event, more than 20 miles of streams will be stocked with over 5,000 trout. This tournament promises to be a challenging good time that will reward participants with numerous prizes. Some of the prizes to be given away will include cash for the largest and the smallest trout, gift certificates, trophies, fishing equipment, and much more!

To register for the event, fill out the form on the Rocky Top Outfitter’s website. The cost is $25 for Saturday or Sunday or $40 for both days. The tournament begins 30 minutes before sunrise – 4 p.m. on Saturday and 30 minutes before sunrise – 2 p.m. on Sunday. The tournament waters include:

West Prong Little Pigeon River from the National Park boundary in Gatlinburg.

Downstream to the Sevierville city park bridge and its tributaries (Roaring Fork, Leconte Creek and Dudley Creek)
