Great property. House was very clean and the details of a caring owner shows. We plan on staying there in the future.

Loved our stay!
We loved our stay at Little Bear. It was the perfect cabin for the two of us. I was amazed at how clean and comfortable it was. It was high up in the mountains and the view was excellent. Only complaint was that we never saw any of those bears. Thank you for taking such good care of this rental property and for sharing it with us.

Upon arrival we found a plethora of dead millipedes and centipedes in the home as well as someone else's tweezers under the pillow on the bed. We asked management to come clean and they did but there were still dead bugs everywhere after they left. Everyday we found more and more dead bugs around the home with no idea where they were coming in from. We also ran out of TP on the last day and were told we had to come pick more up from the office if we wanted more. The first picture of the little bear webpage shows an amazing view of the mountains as well as listing mountain view under featured amenities. Now everything is overgrown and you can hardly see anything. I felt that this was misleading.

We love the location and the beautiful Mountain View’s from Little Bear. We have been staying in this area of the mountains since the early 1980’s. We stayed in Little Bear a couple of years ago. It’s starting to show a little wear and tear. It’s still nice but could use a little updating.

Great for a quick getaway
The house was exactly as advertised. The driveway is VERY steep so be prepared. It does need some updating, but nothing major. I would suggest replacing the shower head and adding a gate to the deck. Overall, a great place to stay.

Nice view
We liked the house and the view. Would not stay with mountain laurels again if the check in process remains in person... having to drive through gatlinburg traffic just to get handed information that could have been in an email was a waste of time. I don’t want to lose an hour+ of my vacation to an antiquated check in process. Also the hot tub was over chlorinated and we couldn’t use it due to the off gassing making us cough and burning our lungs.

Nice stay
It was a seasoned cabin, Very clean, In my opinion it could use some updating. Things were worn and dated It was hard to keep warm the heat was constantly running to keep it at 72. The yard and driveway was littered with down trees and branches, but I did use some for the fire place! Beautiful views from the hot tub! Little bit of a tough drive up to the house, (not too many drinks w dinner). Bring pots and pans if your going to cook in. Bathroom clean but needs updating. Overall a nice place

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Little Bear is one of our older, well-loved, units as reflected by the price point. Thousands of visitors have enjoyed the one story access, covered hot tub and, since the wildfire in 2016, the beautiful views. We are sorry you were not warm enough. The winter nights can get very cold and electric heat pumps can struggle to keep up. We are glad you were able to use the wood-burning fireplace to supplement the heat while you were awake at night. Thanks for the heads up on the pots and pans. We will do a thorough kitchen inventory and restock what is missing from our inventory list. We look forwad to your next stay with us.

My family of 4 found the cabin to be well maintained, with new linens. The master has a fantastic view. The kitchen was great, wide open and great for cooking with the kids.
The deck was our favorite part. It has incredible views, with a table to eat, and a hot tub to boot. Great place! Can't wait to go back.

Great Cabin for the Smokies
Really enjoyed our stay. Driveway is not for the faint of heart or low clearance vehicles. Cabin is exactly as pictured/described. All appliances worked great - laundry is small and can barly accommodate 2 people/3 days of clothes. Loved the deck. Hot tub is great and in really good condition. We had neighbors but could hardly hear them .. cabin is really private. Loved the keyless entry as well. Checkout was great b/c we didn't need to return keys.

Little Bear - Huge Fun!
Having spent our honeymoon and 10th anniversary in Little Bear, my husband and I recently celebrated our 25th there too. The cabin has always been clean and welcoming and so well prepared it’s almost like coming home.
If you’re seeking away time Little Bear offers plenty of privacy and the hot tub on the deck is wonderful! If, however, you enjoy games, go-cart tracks, stage show or a zip line, Pigeon Forge is a short drive away.
Restaurants are abundant in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offering everything from burgers and hot dogs to BBQ to pancakes to chicken to ......
Little Bear is always my first choice for vacation accommodations but any Mountain Laurel property will easily meet or exceed your expectations.

What a great little cabin!
Our 2nd stay at Little Bear..first was in 2006. The area has changed so much as a result of the fires, but the cabin was still the same, quiet, quaint place it was.
Perfect spot for a sisters' week and the addition of the hot tub and spacious new deck was a great improvement over our previous stay.
The driveway was a bit challenging for 2 vehicles, but we managed to work it out.
Overall a great place, wonderful stay, relaxing and we will definitely be back to this cabin in the future. Thanks for a lovely vacation!
Karen R. - Posted: 3/21/2021
Thanks for the memories. It was nothing short of a miracle that Little Bear did not burn with everything else on that street. The fire fighters cut a section of the living room wall out and managed to save the house. I'm not even sure why they were at that house, but we are sure grateful. The porch was expanded a few years ago to enhance the outside living area and was a great improvement. As a result of the wildfire, the view is much improved looking at the mountains, but the burned area is hardly noticeable out back. Little Bears is a special place and we aer glad you were able to visit again. We look forward to seeing you in the mountains again.

Comfortable Stay
Nice two bedroom cabin. Everything worked well, appliances, WiFi, plumbing etc. Very quiet. Only drawback is the steep driveway. You have to turn around and enter it straight on or you will drag the front end of your vehicle. The view has changed over the years as more cabins have been built since the fire. You mainly look over more cabins from the deck.If you want a more scenic view, you may want to stay at another cabin from Mountain Laurel.
Anonymous - Posted: 3/14/2021
Thanks for the review and the heads up on the driveway. Future renters of Little Bear who have bigger vehicles should go to the end of the cul-de-sac and turn to hit the driveway straight on. The view has dramatically changed since the wildfires ravaged that side of the mountain in 2016, but homes are being rebuilt slowly. There have always been properties below Little Bear, you just could not see them because there were more trees to have to look through. There are not many chalets that offer a view without seeing other houses, but there are a few. We look forward to your next visit.

Second Stay at Little Bear
This is the second time we stayed at this location. Thanksgiving 2019 and Christmas 2020. This time we got lots of snow and almost was not able to make it back to the cabin due to the number of vehicles abandoned in the middle of the road coming up the mountain due to the icy roads. Luckily we made it back via alternate route before that route got blocked as well later on after we went through. Cabin is much larger than the pictures make it look. Driveway is quite steep; 4 wheel drive recommended 4 wheel drive and chains required if snow and ice is present. Barely made up the driveway in our jeep wrangler 4 wheel drive with chains due to the snow and ice Christmas Eve. Saw a bobcat cross the road in front of the cabin while walking. Definitely recommend this cabin and we would stay here again for a third time. Be prepared if coming during winter months if freezing weather is expected (food, water, 4 wheel drive, chains, etc.). We were not able to leave the cabin for ~40 hours until roads were drivable again and cars were removed from blocking the roads.

Anyone here Dec 24th got a nice white Christmas and the travel headaches that come with it. Unfortunately, many people don't come prepared for bad weather and it can result in abandoned cars on the sides of the road on the mountain, especially this time because it fell so thick, so fast. We are glad to hear that you did prepare and got to enjoy the quiet beauty of the snow tucked safely in a mountain cabin. By the way, we were VERY fortunate to keep power that night. Thousands of homes all over the county were in the dark for several days, but Ski Mountain was spared. Little Bear is in the county, not the city limits of Gatlinburg, and we were fortunate that the county street crews were able to scrape the roads so soon after the snow. Let us know when you are ready to head back to Little Bear.

Little Bear
We loved our stay at the Little Bear cabin! Very cozy, clean and beautiful views! When we arrived we felt very welcome, I was disappointed that i received an email about bringing extra toilet paper and necessities and when we arrived we only had 2 half used rolls of toilet paper in the room. The water in the shower was also difficult to adjust the temperature. The road leading up to the cabin was very steep, there were not many guardrails lining the way. If someone was to wreck or meet other vehicles in some of the curves, it would be deadly. Hopefully this is something they are trying to improve!

One of Our Favorites
This is the perfect place for our little family of 3, and out of all the years we've been staying with Mountain Laurel, this is one of very few that we have stayed in for repeat stays. Amazing view, nice open layout, really quiet and cozy bedrooms. Far enough away to relax, but close enough to get anywhere via the main drag and/or the bypass. Everything works, all the necessities are there and amenities are as described. We didn't see any bears or wild turkeys at this chalet, this year - but they were out and about in other areas of Gatlinburg and the National Park.

We stayed in October 2020, during the pandemic, and the new check in/out and cleaning protocols from Mountain Laurel were great. The sanitizer they used on all of the surfaces did leave a little bit of a residue, so we used a Clorox wipe to clean that up, a bit. This was no big deal, though, as we felt more at ease with the extra effort of sanitization - another reason that solidified how much we love Mountain Laurel.

Since it was a pandemic, we didn't go to a lot of our favorite shops or restaurants, but we did do a lot more hiking and exploring outdoor activities, which was honestly a really nice change, and gives us more places to add to our must-see list when we come back next year.
Gina T. - Posted: 10/25/2020
Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your time in the mountains once more. Most of our operations have had to adjust to accommodate safety requirements due to the pandemic, but we are learning a lot and will likely keep some of the changes that are working out better. Being forced off the main drag and into the mountains sounds like a nice change for your family as well. This area has so much to offer and we hope you are able to come back soon to add to your must-see list.

Great little cabin
The cabin was so cute! It was clean and comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the back deck. The view is beautiful! Unfortunately we did not see any bears on the property. The drive up is a little scary at first but you get used to it. The only complaint is that the bathroom needs to be updated. The sink in the bathroom is oddly short. Overall we had a great time and we will come back!
Charity M. - Posted: 10/3/2020
Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed Little Bear. The hot tub deck was expanded last year and it was a great addition along with opening the view up a bit more. The driveway can be tricky the first time, but it gets easier with room to turn around at the top. We will pass along your comments about the bathroom to the homeowner and hope you can come see us again soon.

Perfect size!
Really enjoyed our stay - the cabin was the perfect size for my husband and I. We really liked the open kitchen to family room and it's something we look for in any cabin rental. The hot tub was a plus and in great working order (sometimes, that's not the case). We also loved the location - easy access to the Gatlinburg bypass and 321 to other areas of the park. Would recommend that the kitchen be stocked with actual spatulas and updated skillets (handles on ours were all wobbly). Shower controls are very outdated as well - took awhile to get figure out how to get the shower temperature figured out.

Thanks for the review and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Little Bear. The cabin is spacious, but not too big for two people and being on one level makes it perfect for people of all ages. We will check on the skillets and kitchen utensils and are happy to hear you figured out the temperature control for the shower - there are so many styles that it can be confusing at times. We hope to see you back in the mountains soon.

Good place to stay
We really enjoyed our vacation. The house is located in a very good place, on top of a mountain. Prepare for scenic drive to the house and amazing view from the patio and windows. There are bears around the house, we've seen them a few times. They hide when they see you. Inside rooms were cleaned and we had everything we needed. A few suggestions to improve guests experience: queen size bad is squeaking a little, it will be nice if it can be fixed; additional hooks will help to keep cloth and bags in order; office where keys should picked up and dropped off is 8 minutes away from the house, maybe electronic keys can be introduced.

Thank you for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay in Little Bear. The cabin is in a great location between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. You can take either Ski Mountain Road by our office or Wiley Oakley Drive next to the Gatlinburg Welcome Center. Convenient to both cities! The bears have made appearances all over the mountain this year and are always a thrill to see, but please lock your car doors. They are curious creatures and have figured out how to open car doors! We look forward to your return visit.

It was ok. We’ve stayed in nicer. It needs a little TLC & a little updating. The view is wonderful & we loved the location and sitting on the deck. The bed was very comfortable. Patio furniture was not comfortable and neither was the sofa. We love the mountains, so for us it was good to get away.

Lovely Stay
We were in for a wedding and booked Little Bear. We had a great stay, cabin was clean, awesome view, had bear sightings. The only thing that could have been better would be if they left enough dish washer soap for more than 1 load.

Thank you for the review. We always recommend 4 Wheel drive or tire chains if you are coming when there is a possibility of snow in the winter months. The driveway is a little tricky, but if you pull your car down into low gear and take your time, it is quite manageable. We hope to see you again soon.

The cabin was much bigger than we had expected from the pictures when we first booked. This is a great place to stay. I would recommend a 4 wheel drive if you are staying when freezing temps are expected because driveway is quite steep. Cabin was clean and had no issues while we were there. Something had exploded in the microwave prior to our stay and was not cleaned up, but other than that everything was great. Location was perfect. Approximately halfway between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Would definitely stay at this cabin again.

Thank you for your review and we apologize for the mess in the microwave. A 4 wheel drive or time chains are a good idea when we could get snow, but you are right about the location. Pigeon Forge is 6 miles away and Gatlinburg 2, so it is convenient to everything! We hope you can return soon.

LOVE MOUNTAIN LAUREL
As usual, the chalet was very clean and enjoyable. We have rented chalets from Mt. Laurel for many years, and always are very pleased. My only small problem what that firewood was not supplied for the fireplace (except for one small bundle) and had to be purchased extra (never had to do that before).

Little Bear Meets Real Little Bear!
Cozy chalet in the Smokies. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. On our last morning the chalet across the street got visited by a teenager black bear. The hot tub on the front porch was great! I would warn all future visitors to make sure brakes on car work, but the chalet is somewhat deeper into mountains and lots of twists and turns and steeper inclines especially the driveway, but is a fun adventure. Would stay here again. We love Mountain Laurel Chalets! It is our 2nd experience with them and will keep returning.

This is a nice little cabin for a couple or small family. It is located at the top of the mountain above where the Gatlinburg welcome center is. It is one of the few cabins that escaped the fire on the Wiley-Oakley side.

It was so nice to come home to a quiet place after enjoying the mountain activities all day; every day. Little bear was clean and well maintained. I have stayed in better cabins for less money though. The couch needs replaced, it's obviously someone's favorite. There is no privacy on the deck. For all of us self conscience folks, we don't like neighbors staring while we are out on the deck having a drink or two. The location is good if you like going to gatlinburg or pigeon forge either one. The mountain views weren't as good as what I expected either. The staff at Mtn. Laurel is always friendly and helpful. I would recommend this property to a friend but will inform them not to have to high of expectations.

The cabin was wonderful, although we were disappointed not to see any wildlife, it had everything you could want or need for your stay. The bed was comfy, the spa hot and washer/dryer to boot. I would warn you that the roads and signage is quite tricky to work out in the dark, maybe plan to be home after sunset. Taking the $300 off the credit card as apposed to a hold on the credit card was a bit annoying, it took 10 days to be redeposited.

Great layout. Wooded view. Away yet close.
The layout of this cabin is fabulous. The deck with the hot tub and grill being in the same living space as the kitchen and living room is conducive to multiple activities and continued interaction. The cabin was clean and spacious. The bedroom is around the corner, away from the living areas. Again, another great design. Even though we were near other cabins, the foliage prevents viewing and interaction. Having coffee in the morning on this deck was a calming experience.
The cabin is near to the trolley, where you can park for free and ride for a minimal charge. It is also a reasonable distance to the grocery store. When at the cabin, it feels like you are out in the mountains.
The driveway is steep and if your car has low clearance you will need to turn around and enter by making a right turn.
Only issue is that not all windows have screens and one of the windows with screens had a scary looking spider. That window stayed closed! Everything else was great. Would totally stay at this one again.

Nice Layout, no stairs.
We have stayed in several rental cabins in the area. Getting a little older & just the two of us, this cabin was just about perfect. The cabin is nicely appointed and comfortable. Nice view in late October, when the leaves are turning and some are already on the ground. The road up can be a challenge as the cabin is near the mtn top and driveway is steep, but most are that way and so this was expected.

Little Bear is a nice little cabin that is nicely furnished and very clean. If a quiet little cabin in the hills that is only a few minutes from ever thing, then this would be a very good choice.

Perfect getaway
We stayed in the "Little Bear"" cabin which was located at the top of the mountain. We were on our honeymoon so the location was great and secluded! We booked the cabin online and was very pleased at how the website photos were so accurate. The cabin was very clean and and nice! We would definitely stay again!"

very clean and quiet
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. The check in staff were very helpful and friendly. We had to check in after office hours and they made that very easy to do. Our cabin was very well maintained. It is fairly secluded and private. The drive up the mountain to get to it was daunting at first, but we got used to it. The driveway is also very steep. We plan to visit again in the future with our 3 children. We had a wonderful time.
