How sweet the sound of this quiet mountain retreat! This recently remodeled and beautifully decorated chalet provides four spacious suites, each with a private whirlpool/bath, and offers multiple gathering areas throughout the property.

The renovated kitchen has new everything! The pool table has been moved to the upstairs loft (above the main-floor bedrooms), and the bottom floor common area has been turned into a TV room with a large flatscreen and new card table.

Enjoy quick access to a hiking trail located right on the border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Walk outside and be greeted every morning by the mountains, and enjoy them from inside the home as well; this woodsy view can be seen from any area of the chalet thanks to large floor-to-ceiling windows throughout (view of the mountains during winter months only).

Like all of our properties, when you stay at Amazing Grace you have access to three community pools located on Ski Mountain during the summer months.

This was absolutely the BEST friends trip ever. The Chalet was beautiful and had everything we needed. It snowed about 4 to 5 inches and it was just beautiful. That gave us some fun game time. I have never laughed so much in my life. Felt like we were away from it all staying at Amazing Grace. I highly recommend it. We have stayed with Mountain Laurel for almost 20 years and they never disappoint. We Love Mountain Laurel. Cannot wait t come back with my children and grandchildren in Feb. Thank you so much for being so nice if we do need anything and going out of your way.

This cabin was perfect for our getaway -- we had four adult couples and having four EQUAL king bed suites was perfect. The layout of the cabin was wonderful and it was perfect for all of our needs. We were able to make meals together in the kitchen, sit around the table, enjoy the hot tub and had everything we needed with no complaints. Just note that the advice to lock doors due to bears is recommended for a reason -- we had three bear sightings at the cabin and one bear got into a car an tore the interior looking for food. Our only "complaint" is that parking is a bit narrow, in a single line in the front of the cabin, which is a tad difficult due to the very steep drive to reach the cabin. But this did not affect our trip negatively in any way. I would highly recommend this cabin and working with Mountain Laurel Chalets was also easy and information.

The house is lovely, accommodating 6 adults with 4 children, ages 9 - 13 very comfortably. The bedrooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Living spaces were great allowing space for all to enjoy separate activities. Well equipped kitchen. However, could use a couple new skillets. There is a 1-cup glass measuring cup, which is good. I would recommend adding a set of measuring cups, i.e., 1/4, 1/2, 1/3, 3/4 cups, as well as a 2-cup. The decks on front & back are nice. The front deck gets the sun & is showing the wear, boards are quite rough. The drive up to the location is typical of a mountain road, steep & twisting. Since it's located on the edge of the national park, we had 4 close range bear encounters. No problems, the bears just moved on. During our 5-day visit we enjoyed Ober Gatlinburg, Anakeesta, Sky Bridge, & Sugarlands Visitor Center where we walked the Cataract Falls trail, kids loved walking in the creek along the way. We dined at some favorite spots, No Way Jose's, for great Mexican food, The Smokey Mountain Brewery, for awesome pizza, and The Applewood Farmhouse Grill, for awesome fried chicken. Overall, I'd say wonderful place, just keep in mind that the bears live just over the hill.

Driving up to the cabin was such a beautiful experience, I enjoyed looking at all the pretty scenery. Renting the cabin was affordable and the remolded cabin was everything and more.

We have stayed at this rental before and the property has not been kept up. Was disappointed with the condition of the property. Mt. Laurel has always been the only rental properties we have used for 25 years and the staff has always been very professional and so nice.

We enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace, but the house itself was somewhat shabby and in need of some updating. Things like a hole in the couch, cracked and chipped floor tiles in the bathrooms, holes in the walls of one bathroom where you could tell there used to be a towel rack, nails/screws sticking up in the trimming on the floor, where you could easily stub a toe, and a refrigerator door that felt like it was going to fall off every time you tried to open it. The location and layout of the house itself were great, but it is greatly in need of some repairs.

The house is nice, it's large and spacious. The layout was great and the location was good. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. However, the lower level had wet carpet with a smell to it. I called to let the management people know and if they did anything, we couldn't tell. The entire time we were their the carpet was wet with a mold smell. There were several small maintenance issues. Part of the kitchen counter trim is coming off, the garbage can was broken, the toilet would kick on and run in the middle of the night. None of those were a huge deal to us. We were just disappointed with the carpet situation.

Our maintenance team went back in the house and found a loose drain line on the air handler in the locked closet. We are sorry this was not discovered sooner and apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

This chalet was not quite what we expected it to be. It appears the unit needs some maintenance and updating done to it. We had broken chairs, busted tiles, towel racks missing, loose trim and soft spots on the floor and deck.
We traveled with our extended family and we were not all able to sit in the living room together because there was not enough seating and it was too small. The dining room table had a busted chair so we could not all sit there either so it was disappointing. Our purpose of this vacation was to stay mostly at the cabin as our family was finally able to all come together yet we had to spread out due to lack of room and seating.
My husband and I were on our tenth stay with Mountain laurel chalets. Over the past fifteen years we have always returned to you guys for your spectacular chalets, views and customer service. This time whenever I called to inquire about the chalet we were staying in the staff was not as friendly as in the past, expect for a lady, I think her name was Pam, she was very helpful.
I hate to write a review like this as we have had many wonderful experiences but the one time we bring all our family it did not meet our expectations.
On a bright note we saw bears everyday and even had them come up on the deck! We also saw a bob cat one more. This trip we saw the most bears ever!
I am hoping our next Chalet will be better suited for us!

Nanette, we are so sorry to hear your expectations for Amazing Grace were not met. Our records show that you called the office on 7/13 and requested an exterminator for the loft area, and he did spray, but none of the other things were recorded. We will look for the busted tile, broken chair,missing towel bar and loose trim, but would appreciate more information on where you found soft spots on the floor and deck. There is a picture of the living room on the website that shows a sofa, love seat and an overstuffed chair, which would accomodate at least 6 people, but we regret that you found the seating insufficient. Not sure of the circumstances surrounding your phone call to the office. We have had some staffing difficulties this summer, so we hope your next call will be much improved. By the way, we think Pam Penny is fabulous too! We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Good or not so good, we appreciate your time and the feedback. We look forward to your next stay with us.

amazing grace was just that. The cabin is beautiful and the scenery was beautiful. We saw a bear every day. Met a very friendly neighbor and took lots of pictures.

Great time in a nice property. Close to Ober Gatlinburg. Limited view, but we were visited by 2-3 bears every day.

Thanks for the review Steve and we are glad you got to see the neighborhood bears. The trees across the street are actually inside the national park. The park service did give the owner permission to cut the underbrush a few feet back from the boundary, but no trees, so the view closes up in the summer when the trees leaf out, but you can't get any closer to the Smokies! Nice view of the mountains though. The house was clean but it was kind of strange, none of the bedrooms had bedskirts so you saw the box springs (tacky). Fireplaces were shut off which we read in the description that they are seasonal. Our suggestion would be to shut them off in June, July and August. It is still cool especially at night in May. Relaxing weekend...there is a bear that has claimed the neighborhood, fun to see (from afar).

For the most part the cabin was beautiful. There was an issue with one of the downstairs bathroom however, there was a crusted wash cloth left in the shower that was covered with pubic hair. It is that time of year, we noticed a few creatures entering the house from outside. But other than that it was amazing!

We arrived with friends, musical talent, and our personal chef. The snow came and the vacation was magical. The view from this very high point was amazing but might not be as much so when the leaves return. Each couple had equally yoked rooms for privacy and great space for being together. A bit of a trip down to the village.

Food, music and good friends - what else could you want? Sounds like you had the perfect combination for a wonderful stay in the mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park boundary line is directly across the street from the cabin, so we are pretty restricted on how much of the view we can clear, so it is better in the winter with the foliage off the trees, but full of wildlife activity in the summer. The property has a pretty definied "bear path", so make sure to lock your car doors when the bears are around. We hope to see you again soon.

pictures were definitely deceiving. Tgere is very little view of the mountains and the chalet needs some work broken tile,ripped furniture etc. Its nice for r multiple families because there are 4 master suites that are identical. The price was high in my opinion.

Thanks for the review. We will check with the homeowner about the repairs. The picture of the view on the website is in winter with the leaves off the trees and it says in the description that the view is Winter Only. We regret if your impression was otherwise. That tree line is inside the national park and we are unable to improve the view, but the privacy of the home, being on the park boundary, is the trade off, plus the bears are your neighbors.

A few minor hiccups but it didn't deter from the experience or spaciousness. We saw bears daily even on the balcony which was amazing. The office was responsive when we had problems and worked with us when a member forgot something after our checkout time!

Cabin laid out well. Has four big suites and a loft. It sits up high in the sky makes you feel like you are at the highest point of the mountains and after driving it I am pretty sure u are!!

4 Nights at the Top of the Mountain

Property was very nice. but a little dated. It is located at the TOP of the mountain. Due to covid we could not exchange towels or get additional supplies, so we expected more than 1 roll of paper towels and 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom. Plus since we had to wash their towels, we expected some laundry supplies. Both Microwave and Dishwasher had problems. Seeing the Bears on the porch daily was a plus. Mother and Baby put on a show for us and the Male tried to crawl into one of our cars. Don't leave the windows down.

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Amazing Grace. It does seem to be at the top of the mountain and it is on the National Park boundary, home of the bears. We have tried to communicate what is supplied in the cabins as far as supplies through emails, but perhaps you missed that email. Our office remains closed to everyone other than staff due to COVID. Therefore, we are not able to exchange towels or replace paper products. The things that you need to bring with you (even during normal times), are listed on the confirmation and includes laundry detergent. Regardless, we regret if you experienced any inconvenience. We are unaware of any issues with the microwave or dishwasher, but will check them out. Seeing the bears is always a thrill, but you are absolutely right about Locking Your Car Doors! We hope you are able to visit us again soon.

The chalet is very nice! Took my family and my mom on vacation. The chalet is very spacious and quiet. Of course, we did see a bear as it walked around on our front porch and rubbed it's back on the railing. So, be alert! My mom always wanted to stay at a chalet and was very pleased with it. My sons loved the hot tub and pool table. The whirlpool baths were very relaxing after visiting the area. This included a drive over to Cherokee, NC and Bryson City, NC. Bryson City has several waterfalls (Judy Whank, Tom Branch, Indian Creek) that require a mild hike. Saw a lot of people enjoying tubing. Lots of new memories! Would stay there again!

This was our 19th annual friends trip. We are 3 couples who spend several days together in Gatlinburg each year. We always stay with Mountain Laurel and are never disappointed. This was our 3rd stay in Amazing Grace and as always we had a wonderful stay. The accommodations are perfect with the privacy of 4 king suites as well as plenty of common space. This year we had friends who were also visiting Gatlinburg that we invited over for our Friendsgiving dinner. That evening we sat 10 people and lots of food comfortably around the dining room table and then in the living room while we ate and visited

Each year when we are there we hope to see bears and have on a few occasions. This year my husband and I had one walk across the road in front of us about 1/4 mile from the chalet so we were excited. A short time later he went back to the truck to get something and forgot to lock the truck when he came back inside. Within 10 minutes he looked out and saw the truck standing open so walked out to check jokingly saying it may be a bear that opened it. Well, it was and the bear was still standing by the truck. The bear left and my husband checked inside and found that the center console had been opened and the bear pulled out cigars and rolls of quarters. He did rip the top of the console but no other damage. Lesson learned - ALWAYS lock your vehicle even if it’s only for a few minutes!!

Thanks Mountain Laurel for another great year at Amazing Grace. We have wonderful memories and stories to tell from this years visit.

Sometimes I think the bears hide in the woods and wait for you to go inside. You are right when you say it only takes a minute and they can most definitely open doors. I would guess it was the smell of the cigars that got him interested, but who would have thought that? At least you had an interesting story to tell. Come on back and make some more memories!

There were 4 couples total so 4 exactly matching master suites was perfect! There were 3 levels of entertaining space with plenty of room to spread out. Everything was super clean and the home was not only comfortable but also well appointed. As always the staff at Mountain Laurel was gracious and welcoming.

4 friends of 50+ yeas get together. We had a great time and the accommodations were perfect with a master en-suite for each of us. Beautiful views at the top is ski mountain! Minor maintenance issue with a dripping shower head which was reported on check out.

My experience at the Amazing Grace was just that! My family and I had a wonderful and joyous experience. This place was beautiful and clean. We had a great time at the chalet. Getting to the top the first time was a challenge but well worth it. Loved the house and really beautiful views. The easy access to the trails was what brought us to the home. The home will bring us back.

Chalet was wonderful. Accommodate our family for our annual Thanksgiving trip to Gatlinburg. Exciting time with family of bears that visited and even got in one of our cars (no damage).

My Pink Hatters Group came to enjoy the weekend & celebrate!
The house is amazing! It was tough getting up the hill with rain & leaves everywhere however the location was great!!

There seems to be a Ladybug problem on the 2nd level in both bedrooms!
I thought it was good luck however some of the ladies DO NOT deal with insects lol Either way they stayed on the top of ceiling & did not bother any of us

We enjoyed our visit!!! Will be back !

Thank you for the review. The lady bugs are a seasonal phenom and they are drawn to the bright white of the ceilings. It only lasts a few weeks in the spring and fall and we try to keep them cleaned up, but it's almost impossible to keep them out. We are glad the Pink Hatters had a good time, despite the visiting ladybugs.

Our cabin was called Amazing Grace! It was beautiful! The photos online do not give it any justice! We seen three bears by our cabin! One bear was directly in front of our cabin and the other two were just down the road from us as we were driving down the mountain. We had a fourth bear that nobody seen, but he was there, because he went through one of our cars! There wasn’t any damage besides bear slobber.The staff warned us that it could happen, but there is always one guy who doesn’t listen! The staff was friendly and the cabin was emaculate! We will be using Mountian Laurel again!

Property was as pictured, very clean, plenty of room for our group of 7 to spread out. Gave 3 stars on location of property as cabin is at very top of mountain and we got lost 2 or 3 times going in at night.. even with GPS,lol!!! We were aware of view from cabin being of trees from reading other reviews.... nice views on drive up the mountain though! We enjoyed exploring Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood ... best place we ate was Crystelle Creek!!!! We had no maintenance issues and management staff could not have been better. We would definitely recommend cabin to friends, just be prepared for long drive up steep mountain... and pay close attention at night to your GPS��

We have a group of 3 couples who spend a long weekend in Gatlinburg every fall. We always book with Mountain Laurel Chalets. This was our second time at Amazing Grace and again we had a great visit. We love the floor plan of this house. We all have our own private bedroom and bath. The common areas are large enough and have plenty of seating for all of us to spread out and be comfortable. The house was easy to find and in a great location - away from traffic and with a beautiful view. The only suggestions for improvement that we could make would be adding some outdoor lighting. It’s very dark on cloudy nights when there is no natural light.

As always the staff at Mountain Laurel was friendly and helpful. It’s good to be a member of their family of customers!

We had a great time at this house. We even met the friendly neighbor just uphill. He explained that the property for this house extends across the street and is BAFFLED that the owner does not remove the young saplings obscuring what could be a BILLION dollar view! Owners, cut the trees in front of the property!!! Until that is done, I cannot recommend this property despite it's decent layout of 4 master bedrooms, tinted windows and nice living areas.

Manager's Response

The friendly neighbor is not correct. The trees are not on this owners property and are actually inside the National Park boundary. The owner's have addressed this with National Park officials and they have a plan in place. We believe they will be given special permission to cut the trees, but until the Park officials make their final decision nothing can be done. We are glad you enjoyed the chalet and hopefully the next time you come the view will be fantastic as well.

This year we stayed in Amazing Grace and had several discussions about returning to the chalet for future visits. There was plenty of room for everyone to gather together or to find peace and quiet on their own. Each bedroom is like a master suite and there are three balconies and a large(uncovered)front porch.

Our experience with wild life consisted of a serenade on our first morning by a whippoorwill at 5:00 am! We also had a friend visit and she saw a bear and two cubs on her drive up.

The drive up the mountain can be intimidating the first time and if you are looking for vista views this isn't the chalet for you, the view is mostly trees. The drawer pulls in the kitchen should be changed, they prevent full access to a couple drawers.

During our visit we had a couple maintenance issues and the staff addressed immediately; we were never inconvenienced.

Overall it was a great weekend with great friends in a comfortable home.

Amazing Grace is a beautiful cabin, well maintained and quite enjoyable. We had 5 adults and 2 children ranging in age from 2 to 98, and there was plenty of room for all. Two bedrooms are on the main level and were easily accessible. Our problem was trying to locate the cabin at midnight in pitch darkness. Renters need to know that the sign for Amazing Grace is not in front of the house. A BIG left turn arrow needs to accompany the sign. Parking is a little frightening, as is the drive to the house, but the top of the mountain location is extremely quiet.
The hot tub was empty so we called maintenance and they came within an hour. The repairman was nice and was working when we had to leave the cabin. We tried to use the hot tub that night, but it was too cold to use. The problem has not been fixed.
We had to use a late check-in, and everything was waiting for us when we arrived. The staff was helpful and courteous. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely use Mountain Laurel Chalets when we rent again.

The house was very nice. It was clean and in good repair except for a few things. We had no internet the entire time there and one of the cable boxes did not work. We called the rental office and they sent someone to fix it. Cable box could not be fixed and he thought the WiFi was fixed but shortly after he left it went out again. I called the office and was told they would send him back with a new router. Well he never returned. If the WiFi and cable box had worked there would have been no complaints.

Nice rental experience. We arrived after office hours and the staff called and instructed us how to enter after hours. What a nice touch!
Chalet was roomy. The exterior was aged and needs some attention. The interior was too. The kitchen was fine but the bathrooms needed new toilet seats. The grout in one bathroom is crumbling. The beds were very comfortable!!!! I didn't play pool but those that did said the table was in poor condition. Wish there was more of a view since it is on the top of the mountain but the trees are overgrown. Overall it just needs some TLC! We saw two beers walking in front of Amazing Grace and one mountain lion.
Overall, I think if you are ok with the things I mentioned, you will love this place.

The house was very large and well taken care of. Everything on the property worked ie fireplace, hot tub, jacuzzi tubs. The house is located very high up a steep hill, I would recommend 4 wheel drive

This was without a doubt a most amazing place to stay. Everything was above and beyond what we expected. The chalet was complete with an amazing decorated Christmas tree straight out of a magazine with mantle and other decorations throughout. It couldn't have been nicer except for one thing. The road to it was very steep, curvy and long. We would not hesitate to stay there again and again but we are seniors and the drive is just a little too much for us. The view was also absolutely amazing and the chalet came complete with everything you would need for a home away from home. Just bring the food. Absolutely loved the chalet!!!

This our first time in the mountains.We were at the very top and enjoyed every bit of it.The only problem was it wasn't a long enough stay. Was a little nervous at first about going up so high in the mountains, but quickly got over it. The cabin was beautiful and very spacious. It was four couples and each bedroom had its on full bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. Also the staff were very nice and professional, but treated us like we were family. I would recommend this cabin/company to anyone! Wish I never had to leave! Thanks for everything,we will be back!!

Had a great time at Amazing Grace. We saw a bear and 2 cubs early one morning. It is way up high and a scary drive but I suppose that's part of the thrill ! Very spacious bedrooms and baths. We took advantage of the pool table and hot tub. Mice quiet area. Office staff was very friendly.

Mountain Laurel Chalets was very easy to work with. We enjoyed the home and surroundings even being inviting to see the view from the neighbor's house.

The property was beautiful and clean but very hot. We found out that this was a known problem that they were trying to figure out. A lot of glass windows without shades heats up the first and second floors so much that air conditioning doesn't help. Temperatures outside were only 60's and 70's. Would be very uncomfortable in the summer. One room the blinds were all broken and another room had a funky smell in the basement. It was really pretty but it definitely needs some attention.

Amazing Grace was amazing! My husband's mom passed away in Sept so he was determined to get away for the holidays. We came across Amazing Grace online and immediately knew this is where we wanted to spend our Christmas. Additional family members accompanied us along with our 2 children and we had a blast. It was truly a blessing! Space was not an issue, but the mountain roads were a bit challenging at night. Overall, the stay was amazing and the name fits this chalet.
P.S. the Christmas decorations provided were beautiful!!!!!

It is truly amazing. The name suits it.

We have stayed here many many times, but this time there was problem with the bugs especially downstairs. Also, we get blowing a breaker which we never had a problem before. We always loved staying here because of the set up and the view.

Accommodations were excellent. Location was great after arriving. The roads to the chalet were intimidating and challenging. Bushes in front of chalet prevents view of beautiful mountains and needs cutting.

The size, floor plan, and amenities were awesome and as advertised. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, cookware and dishes. All four master bedrooms were large with nice master baths. There is plenty of furniture throughout and areas to be alone or sit and talk with others.
A few disappointments included, virtually no view of the mountains (even though you are way up the mountain) due to large trees surrounding the cabin. This could easily be remedied by clearing out the tops of some trees right in front of the cabin. The remotes for the TV and DVD player in the living room did not work, bulbs out in several lamps, the exhaust fan in one down stairs bathroom is terribly loud and needs replacing.
The cabin served my group well and as a Christian, I appreciated the Christian theme throughout the cabin.

The whole family was delighted with the space. Each of us had our own king bed with large jacuzzi tub in each room. Decks on all three levels, pool table and wonderful common meeting spaces. Oh and a hot tub on the deck too. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was very clean. It took just a little patience to find the house but well worth the trip up the hill. Wifi and all the other amenities one needs to have a wonderful family vacation.
