The house is beautiful. The setting is breath taking. The house could use some minor updates, walls need some paint, cracked tiles need to be replaced. My husband and I took the lower floor bedroom, it stays cold...really cold. The kitchen is a dream, my favorite. The freezer ice drawer wouldn't open. We required hot tub service twice. The maintenance crew is quick to respond. The walk up from the pool is rough. The toilet in the billiard room is loose.

We love coming to this Lodge each year for our family ski trip in January. There is plenty of room for all of us. The best part is the fabulous kitchen. Love cooking on the grill, griddle, and large stove.

The house and property are beautiful. The kitchen is very well stocked. The only downside was the only way to get to the pool was to walk down the very slanted driveway. Even the kids were winded. Seems like there would be stairs or something. Other than that, we loved it. ❤️��

We had a great time here. Everyone loved the pool and the house itself. But the large tv in billiard room was worthless. Picture nothing but squiggles. Tv in living room small for a group and no DVD player. Brought ours from master bedroom. Kitchen incredible...even a bit intimidating. No trash pickup all week till we called to ask what to do with our trash on checkout day. Tons of stairs!!! House could use some updating but overall it was ideal for our 6 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of room for togetherness or separation. Perfect location... Not far from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.

It was the perfect get away. Everything was in order from the scenery to the house itself. We had a ball from the time we arrived to the time we left. As beautiful as the downstairs bedroom was we needed a heater for that room it was freezing. But other than that no complaints.

Thanks for the review and we are glad your group had a great time at Shenandoah. This beautiful unit has all the amenities you would expect from a luxury property. We hope you were able to cast a line in the private lake and catch a blue gill! The heat is a little tricky because the thermostat for the downstairs is in the main floor living area behind the TV armoire. We are glad you were able to locate the portable electric heaters for the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Please keep Shenandoah in mind the next time you visit the Smokies.

We had an amazing time in this castle of a mountain mansion! The kitchen is like a restaurant, the views are gorgeous, and the house is so spacious and beautiful! We had an amazing time! It was the perfect place to stay and super close to everything!

We are kind of partial, but we think it's a mountain castle too! You don't find many houses with a billiard room like Shenandoah Lodge has, much less a kitchen with commercial gas appliances. Can we talk about the lake and that view? Very hard to find a private lake in the mountains. We hope you will keep us in mind when booking your next trip to the Smokies.

The location is between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so pros and cons with the location depending on where your interests are for the trip. I believe there is access to the lake in front of the property for fishing (catch and release). This may not be a good choice for folks that have trouble with lots of stairs. We will definitely keep this place on our list when we travel with the extended family.

We loved this house! It is very spacious with plenty of room and the location was great for us to get to all of the places we needed to go! The landscape is awesome. The lake out front is breathtaking! That being said it did have a couple of downside issues. There was no heat in the lower bathroom. But that bathroom is gorgeous! There was not heat actually on the entire bottom floor. There was an electric fireplace in the bedroom with a timer that could be set for 60 minutes. It put out some heat for the bedroom but none for the bathroom and the rest of that floor. We were thankful that the weather during our stay was relatively warm. This house could use an update as the curtains definitely needed to go and some painting needed to be done. The house was clean and tidy. The kitchen chairs did have some stains and could use some new upholstery. We had to scramble to find enough light bulbs that worked because many of them were out. My family wanted me to rate this house as a "4"" but I have to give it a ""5"" even with some of these issues this house is wonderful! I would rent it again in a heartbeat!"

Thanks for the review and we agree that Shenandoah Lodge is a very special place. The large rooms and high ceilings, along with the unique decor and the private lake, make it a wonderful getaway for families and friends. We are sorry you had trouble with the heat in the basement. The thermostat for the main floor and downstairs is located behind the television in the main floor living room. If the fireplace was being used in that room, there is a possibility that the central heat/air would not properly heat the downstairs.

First and foremost it was a great time together with my kids, their spouses and my 3 grandchildren. The house is really nice and having the private pool was the highlight along with the killer kitchen. The lake is nice but we had no luck fishing. We were disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabin. Bedrooms were nice but other rooms could use a deep cleaning. Still overall experience was great. Would stay there again.

The cleaning of the rental was not up to Mt. Laurel's usual standards. All the years that we have rented from Mt. Laurel, never did they tell us that a military discount was offered. When we did see it in an e-mail solicitation and asked about it when we checked in, we were told our payment was already processed and they could do anything. It would have been a great gesture, for them to give my husband, a Vietnam vet, the discount as a separate credit as a thank you for his service and being a loyal Mt. Laurel renter.

If you are seeking isolation this is the place for you. Bring your own food and you never have to leave. One thing to keep in mind is you will be climbing steep steps to come in and out.

The house was large and spacious with a great view overlooking the lake. The large front porch was very relaxing with plenty of seating. However, the house did appear to have been cleaned for quite some time. The floors were dirty and every dish we pulled from the cabinet was dirty with dried food or grease. The covered area by the pool had not been cleaned and was unusable during our stay. There were candy wrappers and empty water bottles in the bedrooms and the bathrooms did not appear to have been cleaned. For the price of the home, we expected a much better experience.

Our family had a great time at Shenandoah Lodge. We enjoyed the many gathering spaces in the house; the grandchildren played pool several times every day. They also enjoyed walking around the lake and feeding the ducks. We appreciated the beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. We also enjoyed the amazing kitchen, where we did a lot of cooking. The house must have been magnificent in its early days. It could use some remodeling now, but is still attractive.

The check-in was easy and we received nice customer service. With the extra parking out the third floor door, it would have been nice to have a key for the door. We came with 3 cars and two parked up top. With a cleaning time of 4 hours between checking out and checking in, it looks like the cleaners needs a little more time for this big home. The kids feet where dirty from the first day on from the floors. Dirt was piled up along the baseboards. We swept and emptied the sweeper twice. That said, the beds are all very comfortable. We loved the extra large kitchen and appliances. The pool is nice to enjoy after a day of sight-seeing. The home is in a great location. The trolley for Gatlinburg stops at the welcome center less then 10 minutes down the road. This home is located between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We had 10 people with 4 kids 2 1/2- 7 yrs. They loved the Lumberjack Show in Pigeon Forge. We all went to Annakeesta. The kids wanted to know where the rides where, but by the time we left, they all loved it. I recommend the gen mining, it was great fun for the kids. It's worth the extra money.The whole family visited the Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend, about 45 min. away. A new experience for the little ones who loved it. And last, Gatlin's Mini Golf. We paid for the Fun Pass that was good for 7 days. they have two 18 hole courses with a black light 9 hole. We did the Bumper cars, laser room and the Atomic Rush room. All fun for all all ages.This was our first time visiting Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Everyone should visit at least once!

We loved our stay at the Shenandoah Lodge! The location was perfect! Very close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, yet felt hundreds of miles away! The house was large and the kitchen was amazing! We enjoyed the billiards room, the hot tub, and the large porch! The view is fantastic! The only criticism that I can give is that the hard surfaced floors needed a good cleaning, the large television in the billiards room did not work, and that the driveway is EXTREMELY steep!! The 1st floor bedroom could also use an aesthetic update. Other than these minor issues, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a 5 bedroom rental at the smoky mountains!!

We really enjoyed our tine at Shenandoah lodge. The only complaint like many of the others was the steep walk to and from the pool. Other than that it was fabulous. Location was perfect. A close drive to the attractions but set up in the mountains away from all the hustle and bustle.

Staying in the Shenandoah has always been a wonderful experience for our family. It is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places that we love to visit. It provides a quiet, private retreat with plenty of amenities that we have come to enjoy over the years that we have been able to stay there. We absolutely keep it at the top of our list for vacations when we plan to be in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

We had a great time at this house. The house itself is in great shape and well kept. Our only complaint is that the downstairs bedroom must be the master and it has the smallest bed that bounced around a lot even with little movements. The pillows were very hard too. However, that small inconvenience is overshadowed by everything else. The view is great, the peaceful surroundings, the two white ducks hanging out in the pond and chasing each other from one end to the other were just some of the things that will make this trip memorable.

This house is unbelievably spacious. The beds were so comfortable, my family did not want to get out of bed. Best sleep we’ve had in a long time. Though the house is a little dated, we didn’t even care because we loved every other aspect of it. The kitchen is phenomenal, we cooked every day and it’s perfect for a large group. Out of all the houses we’ve rented every year, this is by far my favorite.

The house was absolutely great. 5 large bedrooms, well kept. Location is perfect if you don't want to stay in the mayhem of the cities but want to be close.
Hot tub, pool table, incredible kitchen. The only issues we had is that the internet was so weak it wasn't usable, and the lower level was too cold. But overall thumbs up.

Driving up the first time, the place just took our breath away. The whole house is amazing and the beds are so comfortable! I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you have a big group with you! The only issue we came across was that the fireplace in the downstairs bedroom did not work, but that was a barely noticed inconvenience at best. I can't wait to stay again.

We went with 3 other couples. We loved the kitchen and porch area. The kitchen had every thing you could want or need. Very impressed with the over all view and comfort this lodge had to offer. The beds were very comfortable. One of the bathrooms on the 3rd floor didn't drain well in the shower. That was the only problem we had, but there were other bathrooms to shower in, so we weren't too concerned with it. The hot tub was used and wonderful after a long days drive. Would definitely recommend this lodge for large gatherings. This was my fiance's, Carl's, first time in Tennessee and first time renting with Mountain Laurel chalets. I've rented 3 times with Mountain Laurel, and couldn't be more pleased. We did set off the alarm trying to get in the first night.

If pool is your primary reason for booking, get assurances from management company that it is in swim worthy condition.. it was maintained by an outside source thru the owner at the time of our rental and there were issues. Rental company was very responsive but service was out of their control. Steep driveway to pool area and to lake access. Definitely not handicap accessible. Scenic view of lake but no mountain view.

We were a party of 8 adults and 3 kids and had lots of room to move around. All bedrooms were great with king sized bed except for 1 queen. 2 family rooms with tv's, pool table and a great gourmet kitchen with 2 big round tables. The pool was nice and clean and the pond and duck were a beautiful sight every morning. The location can't be beat halfway between both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge off the main highway.

Very nice cabin. Enjoyed our stay. I found it could have been a little cleaner (Bathrooms and Kitchen), the internet did not work (but I believe it was do to some lines being down in the area, the biggest disappointment was the cabin information on the web site said the pool was heated, but it was not.

The view is spectacular from the house. It is very large and the kitchen was the perfect gathering place. Would defiantly stay here again. As always Mt Laurel does a great job. We have been using them over 10 years now and we cannot be more satisfied. Their team is always helpful and they make you feel like family.

The house is very nice and laid out just right. Maybe a little too popular with people stopping by to take pictures though. We would stay there again. The house could have been cleaned a little better for our arrival, in specific the dusting was subpar. Very nice overall. I have stayed with Mountain Laurel Chalets three times and have good experiences on all.

Shenandoah Lodge was the perfect place for family vacation, Lots of room for everyone, Kitchen was perfect everything was in working condition. What was my girlfriend became my wife after eloping in the lodge surprising the family. Just a great place for any occasion.

We had a great visit! Beautiful home. Our one disappointment was that there are NO steps to the pool area. It is very steep and was difficult for some of the family to go up and down. Steps would have made a major difference!Also an added convenience would be a keypad for the 3rd floor entrance. We all had a great time and would return especially if the improvements of steps to the pool area where added.

Omg!The pictures of this house do not do it justice. We had a family of 7 people and once we walked through the house we felt like we needed more people. The kitchen is to die for it was way more room than we needed. The view from the porch is very nice and the kids were in the pool the whole time. Nights in the jacuzzi are great. It was only 15 minutes from town so we never had to go no longer than 20 miles to get to all the attractions. We were there 7 days and then it didn't seem long enough. The cleaning crew did a poor job on the bathtubs but everything else was great. My family love the house so much they didn't want to leave. If you get the chance this house is a great deal.

The house is huge. The kitchen is fantastic. The private pool and the pool table was a great plus. The home was clean and comfortable. Now the bad things:
1) the pool was somewhat dirty and the pool net was broken so there was no way to get the bugs and leaves out.
2) the pool table felt was torn at one end and two rails were dead. Also the pool cues were in bad shape.
3) the was an air hockey table that was completely unusable.

In general it was a great place that could have been so much better.

We loved this house. The pool was in great shape and we used it a lot. The kitchen was amazing for our purposes of all 10 people cooking different dishes. Pleanty of Parking. We are already planning our return trips. One of the ovens didn't work and the pool table could use re-felting and some new sticks, but other than that we loved the place.

We stayed at this chalet a few years ago when it was managed by a different management group and thought it was not as well taken care of. It was dirty and my grandson stepped on a fish hook by the pool. We were not impressed. But then I saw it had changed management and decided to try it again because it is a beautiful location. We had nine adults staying for 3 nights. Enjoyed the pool and sitting on the porch taking in the view of the lake. We loved walking around the lake in the mornings and evenings. Everyone was very comfortable in their rooms and the beautiful kitchen was perfect for gathering. Perfect place for a weekend vacation.

We loved the pool and hot tub.The house had everything you needed.The staff was great at cabin rental office.Had a lot of steps though if you had elderly person staying at house.Would love to stay again

The cabin was very clean, but when we walked in ,it smelled of gas fumes. But in all it was very nice. In need of some general maint. but very nice home.
If you have trouble with your knees or back, there are several steps in this home. An the back parking is the best route in my appenion.

Overall the party that I came with was satisfied. The place is very spacious and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. The property management company was very informative and professional. Only gripes were the wifi signal was extremely weak and the towel set did not include wash rags (just towels and hand towels, although they mentioned you could get some at the leasing office). I would definitely come back to the property and recommend to a friend.

A great time making memories at Christmas. This was an amazing traditional home. We loved it! The view was beautiful. Quite and Cozy. The roads to arrive to this beautiful home could be a little tricky especially if travelled in bad weather.

We had a huge group of 5 couples, 2 singles and a child. The place is very spacious and I recommend cooking a couple of meals in the industrial kitchen. As a foodie this was the highlight for some of us. The pool is only open from memorial day to labor day so FYI. The TV's need updating pretty badly. I actually brought my own lcd TV because I could tell from the pics there were old tube TV's. I would recommend to the owner that he invest in a few of the more modern options for TV's and linens. They are cheap and that was the only real drawback. The gameroom is off the main entrance and we definitely used it. Time to re-felt the pool table. Overall this is a great place and the location is amazing...took us 4 minutes to get to downtown Gburg from the door. Don't expect amazing views of the mountains but the proximity to downtown makes up for that. The bedroom we stayed in (top two right windows) was huge and the bed was comfy. We really enjoyed opening up the sliding doors (which are beautiful wood and frosted glass) on the middle porch and letting the cool air flow through the large kitchen...that range gets hot when you've got all of the elements burning. The kitchen is definitely the star in this house with plenty of space for folks to gather and eat and imbibe. There's a certain feel to this place that's hard to 's very nice but kind of nouveau rich. It's clean but not homey...because it's a rental I'm sure but just giving you guys an idea of what to expect.

Arrived to a clean and beautiful mountain home with a great view of the valley and lake. Unfortunately does not have an expansive Smokey Mountain view, but is still beautiful. Large enough to accommodate big parties, there is plenty of room for fun activities. Really enjoyed the visit!

I really have no complaints. The house is just awesome!! I wouldn't change a thing. Beautiful place! I would highly recommend this place if you want to stay somewhere with great scenery. My one year old grandson was just loving it! We'll be back!

My overall experience was great! The cabin view was breathtaking, the property was clean and the staff was really professional. The only recommendation is upgrading the televisions throughout the property.

Great location and fully functional house. The reservation and check in experience was flawless. The cabin could use a little TLC. The downstairs heat did not work as well fireplace downstairs would not work. And the ventilation of gas fumes from the upstairs fireplace and stove was a little overpowering at times. I would rent again and only hope these issues had been addressed.

Thanks for the comments. The owner has installed another heat/air system for the downstairs area and the problem of heating the bedroom is fixed. They also had the pilot light on the gas appliances serviced so they are not prone to go out between guests (which was causing the gas smell).

This year, my only suggestion to Mountain Laurel would be to ensure there is a beginner supply of dishwasher soap, dish soap and garbage bags. There were none of these supplied, although they were supposed to be there. Also it would be nice to have a few more towels and washcloths available. One per guest isn't quite enough when staying for a more than a long weekend. Thank goodness for the washer and dryer. But other than that, it was a great stay, the house was perfect for our family's size, and I would highly recommend it.
