SMOKY MOUNTAINS TUNES & TALES

The streets of Gatlinburg area about to get a lot more entertaining when Smoky Mountains Tunes and Tales returns to the Parkway.

The Tunes & Tales festival features street performances by costumed storytellers, artisans and musicians. Starting mid June from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., Gatlinburg will transform into a stage as performers fill the streets. Throughout the night visitors can expect to see these performers bring history to life. A variety of different portrayals of the rich Appalachian culture will be demonstrated. These short mini-performances vary throughout the night and include story-telling, live music and demonstrations.

The purpose of the Smoky Mountains Tunes and Tales is so much more than live entertainment. It’s an opportunity to educate people about the culture and history of the Smoky Mountains.  Oftentimes, performers will find different ways to get the audience involved. After performances the Back Porch Cloggers will teach a few steps to willing participants. Also, a variety of artisans will be available for demonstrations on crafting certain instruments.

The festival is free and will be happening every night the end of July. All you and your family has to do is show up! Check out the video below as a little taste of what to expect during this festival. Come and see what life was like in the Smokies and witness history come to life.
